Doctor Who Props Auction Raises Funds for Charity

Doctor Who Memorabilia Auction Offers Fans Chance to Own TV History

Devotees of the long-running science fiction series Doctor Who are being presented with an exceptional opportunity to acquire authentic pieces of television heritage. A substantial collection of props and costumes from the beloved BBC programme is being made available to the public through an online auction, marking the first occasion that BBC Studios has authorised such a sale.

Iconic Items from the Whoniverse Up for Bids

The auction features several highly sought-after artefacts that have appeared on screen. Among the standout lots are two distinctive sonic screwdrivers. One was wielded by David Tennant during his celebrated return as the Fourteenth Doctor, while the other is the illuminated "Joy To The World" version brandished by Ncuti Gatwa in his role as the Fifteenth Doctor. Additionally, a screen-matched, cracked Tardis prop from the series 13 New Year's Eve special, titled 'Eve Of The Daleks', is also included in the sale.

Charitable Focus and Auction Details

The online auction is being managed by the specialist firm Propstore and is scheduled to commence imminently, concluding on 19 February. In a notable philanthropic gesture, twenty per cent of the final hammer price from all sales will be donated directly to the charity BBC Children in Need. Every lot will start with an accessible opening bid of just £100, designed to welcome both ardent fans and serious collectors alike.

Supporting BBC Children in Need through this sale makes it even more meaningful."

A Collection Spanning Multiple Doctor Who Eras

The extensive assortment of memorabilia spans several distinct periods within the Whoniverse. It encompasses items from David Tennant's original tenure as the Tenth Doctor between 2005 and 2010, his 2023 comeback as the Fourteenth Doctor, and Ncuti Gatwa's current portrayal as the Fifteenth Doctor from 2023 to 2025.

Other instantly recognisable pieces featured in the auction include:

  • The NSDA4 Dalek model from the series seven episode 'Asylum Of The Daleks', a prop which has subsequently appeared in every Dalek narrative since 2012.
  • Clara Oswald's Anti-Cyber gun from the series seven story 'Nightmare in Silver'.
  • Costumes worn by beloved characters, such as River Song's outfit from 'Rain Gods' and Amy Pond's ensemble from the series five episode 'Amy's Choice'.
  • An outfit worn by Ncuti Gatwa in the series two adventure 'The Reality War'.
  • The distinctive Sardicktown clock prop from the 2010 Christmas special, 'A Christmas Carol'.

Sarah Bold, Head of Marketing, Global Brands and Licensing at BBC Studios, added: "Doctor Who has an extraordinary legacy, and this auction is a rare opportunity for fans to own pieces that have shaped its history. We're proud to partner with Propstore on an event that not only raises vital funds for BBC Children in Need but also helps ensure these iconic items are preserved and appreciated for generations to come."
