Hollywood star Liev Schreiber has made his first public appearance since being discharged from a New York City hospital where he was treated for an intense headache that required extensive medical testing.
Post-Hospital Sighting in Manhattan
The 58-year-old actor was spotted on Thursday evening in Manhattan's SoHo neighbourhood, looking relaxed as he carried a brown bag down the street. Schreiber wore a green Slainte: Irish Whiskey cap paired with a brown corduroy jacket and matching trousers, with his gold wedding band clearly visible. Sporting a moustache and slight beard, the Ray Donovan star appeared to go unrecognised by passersby during his solo outing.
This sighting comes just days after Schreiber was rushed to hospital experiencing what he described as "intolerable" pain from a severe headache. His representative confirmed to Daily Mail that the actor is "doing much better" and stated: 'Out of an abundance of caution, Liev went into the hospital for testing and as of this afternoon, he has been cleared to return to work.'
Previous Health Scare and Recovery
This isn't the first time Schreiber has faced health issues related to headaches. In 2024, the actor revealed he had been diagnosed with transient global amnesia (TGA), a rare, benign condition characterised by sudden memory loss that resolves within 24 hours. The condition was brought on by a migraine during his Broadway performance in 'Doubt: A Parable'.
Schreiber previously described the experience as "the worst nightmare that an actor could possibly ever experience," recalling how he couldn't remember his co-star's name or his lines during the episode. Despite initial fears he had suffered a stroke, medical scans showed his brain was "perfectly fine."
According to sources, Schreiber has felt "embarrassed" by the attention surrounding his recent hospital visit, concerned that it makes him appear "weak" during the height of his career. The actor had been filming an untitled Apple TV+ thriller in Philadelphia based on Lars Kepler's bestselling Killer Instinct before the health incident.
Moving Forward
The San Francisco native, who achieved fame through roles in Scream and more recently The Perfect Couple, is now back on his feet and ready to resume work. Schreiber is married to Taylor Neisen, 32, with whom he has a daughter named Hazel Bee, born in August 2023. He also shares two children - son Sasha, 17, and daughter Kai, 16 - with former partner Naomi Watts.
Despite the health scare, medical professionals have given Schreiber the all-clear, allowing the Emmy-nominated actor to return to his professional commitments while maintaining his privacy about the personal health matter.
