Miranda Lambert Mourns Loss of Beloved Rescue Dog Cher After 15 Years
Miranda Lambert's Dog Cher Dies, Singer Shares Heartfelt Tribute

Country music star Miranda Lambert has shared a heartfelt and emotional tribute on social media following the death of her beloved rescue dog, Cher. The singer took to Instagram on Sunday to announce the passing of her cherished chihuahua, who had been a constant companion for 15 years.

A Heartfelt Goodbye on Instagram

Addressing her 5 million followers, the 42-year-old Grammy award-winning artist confirmed the sad news. "Our sweet bear Cher crossed over the rainbow bridge yesterday," Lambert wrote in her poignant post. The Longview, Texas native explained that she adopted the rescue puppy back in 2010 when Cher was just 10 weeks old.

Lambert reflected on the immense joy her pet brought into her life, stating that Cher provided "15 years of love and all the chihuahua attitude and energy she had to give." She fondly remembered the instant connection at the shelter, saying, "I put her in my overalls pocket at the shelter and that was it!"

Cher's Life as a Celebrity Companion

The tiny dog was not just a pet but a regular fixture in Lambert's professional life, accompanying the singer on tour and even to high-profile red carpet events. Her first major trip was to the ACM awards in Las Vegas, where stylist Tiffany Gifford matched Lambert's dress to the dog so Cher could join her on the red carpet.

Lambert credited her pet as a good luck charm, noting that she won an award that year and Cher handled the ensuing press room like a seasoned professional. "She was on every tour I have done since," the singer added, expressing gratitude for all the road miles they shared.

Coping with the Heartbreak of Pet Loss

The post took a poignant turn as Lambert reflected on the series of losses she and her husband, former NYPD officer Brendan McLoughlin, have endured. The couple married in January 2019, and Lambert revealed a significant change in their family. "I was a rescue dog mom of 9 when I met Brendan seven years ago, and now we are down to one," she shared.

While admitting they are "ready for a break from the heartbreak," Lambert emphasised that the joy animals bring is worth the pain of goodbye. "They are worth every tear we have cried," she wrote, adding a wistful note about how quickly dog years pass.

She concluded her emotional tribute with the words "Rescue’s forever" accompanied by a heart, a broken heart, and a dog face emoji. The post quickly filled with supportive messages from friends and fans, including singer-songwriter Natalie Hemby and Caitlin Oponski of Lucky Break Rescue, who offered their condolences for the loss of the "sweet girl."
