Singer Pixie Lott made a spectacular and energetic return to the stage this week, performing a full dance routine at London's Union Chapel just two months after giving birth to her second child.
A Dazzling Postpartum Performance
The 34-year-old All About Tonight songstress, who welcomed her newborn son with model husband Oliver Cheshire in October, looked incredible in a sparkling black sequinned mini dress. The outfit featured a scoop neckline and a flattering A-line skirt as she took to the stage on Wednesday night.
Pixie treated the audience to a number of her hit tracks, but the highlight was the live debut of her new festive single, First Christmas. She dedicated the song to her newborn baby, telling the crowd: "Any other parents having their first Christmases or just reminiscing about the first Christmas with their little ones as well, let's go. This is the first time we're performing it together. This is First Christmas."
The performance was notably physical, with the singer being lifted into the air by her backing dancers during the energetic set, showcasing a remarkable level of fitness so soon after childbirth.
Family Festivities and Film Promotion
Last week, Pixie offered fans a rare and adorable glimpse of her newborn son in an Instagram video, documenting the family's preparations for the baby's first Christmas. The clip showed a glowing Pixie enjoying quality time with her new son and her two-year-old boy, Albert, known as Bertie, as they watched festive films together.
In the cosy video, set to her own song First Christmas, the singer was seen in festive red pyjamas before changing into a stylish pink and red pair. Her beautifully decorated home, complete with a large tree and garlands, provided the perfect backdrop. She captioned the post "first Christmas details".
Pixie recently told the Daily Mail of her excitement for the holiday season: "I'm so excited for this Christmas because I have a newborn baby and a two-year-old, so the magic to have a two-year-old who understands Father Christmas is coming is so exciting. We've been talking about Christmas since September."
Balancing Motherhood with a Busy Career
The Union Chapel concert is part of a swift return to work for the pop star, who was back promoting projects just four weeks after her son's birth. She is currently promoting her new festive film, Christmas Karma.
The film, directed by Gurinder Chadha of Bend It Like Beckham fame, is a modern musical retelling of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. It features a version of Ebenezer Scrooge, played by The Big Bang Theory's Kunal Nayyar, who is portrayed as a wealthy British-Indian man who "despises refugees."
Despite its all-star cast, which includes Eva Longoria, Danny Dyer, Billy Porter, Boy George, and Hugh Bonneville alongside Pixie, the film has reportedly received poor initial reviews from critics.
