This Morning presenter Dermot O'Leary has posted a poignant message online, acknowledging production staff for whom Friday 20th December 2025 marked their final day on the long-running ITV show. The 52-year-old star described the moment as "the end of an era" for many, as sweeping changes to ITV's daytime lineup take effect in the New Year.
Heartfelt Thanks to the 'Incredible Team'
In a rare behind-the-scenes photograph shared on his Instagram, O'Leary captured the scale of the production, showing numerous cameras and lights with waving crew members. He accompanied the image with a moving caption thanking the team for their "selfless hard work" in delivering over two hours of live television every weekday.
"Turning up with professionalism, humour, and good grace every day. Doing what they do in the shadows… so we get to dance under those lights," O'Leary wrote. He signed off the tribute with "Big love TM x," prompting an immediate outpouring of support from his fellow ITV personalities.
Daytime Stars Echo the Sentiment
Co-presenter Rochelle Humes, 36, was quick to respond, calling the team "the best ever" and stating she felt "so lucky" to have worked with them. Other familiar faces from the ITV daytime stable added their voices. Jeff Brazier, 46, described the post as "beautifully put," while Kate Lawler, 45, sent "big love" to the "warmest and friendliest folk in tele."
Ashley James, 38, echoed the praise, and Angela Scanlon, 41—who recently made her This Morning hosting debut—responded with a string of clapping hand emojis. Scanlon has been tipped for a permanent role on the show following her appearance.
Major ITV Schedule Overhaul Behind the Changes
The staff departures and reassignments are a direct result of significant changes to ITV's daytime programming schedule announced for 2026. Many former This Morning colleagues will now work across the entire daytime slate, including on 'Lorraine' and 'Loose Women,' while others are leaving their specific shows or the company entirely.
The restructuring will see 'Good Morning Britain' extended by 30 minutes. Meanwhile, both 'Lorraine' and 'Loose Women' will be reduced to airing for just 30 weeks per year, with each episode shortened to 30 minutes instead of a full hour.
Speaking about the cuts, veteran presenter Lorraine Kelly confirmed the changes were "indicative of the whole industry." She expressed relief that her show was continuing and noted that many jobs had been saved, with several members of her team moving to 'This Morning.' "It's not my decision. It wasn't a decision that I made," Kelly stated.
Despite the behind-the-scenes upheaval, 'This Morning' will continue broadcasting through the festive period. Viewers can look forward to a special Christmas Day episode, airing from 10 am until 12 noon.
