Helen Mirren films MobLand S2 in London with Brosnan

Dame Helen Mirren embodied a powerful gangland matriarch as cameras rolled for the second season of the gritty crime drama MobLand in London this week.

On-Set Style and Suspenseful Scenes

The Oscar-winning actress, 80, was spotted filming new scenes as Maeve Harrigan on Wednesday, looking every inch the formidable crime boss. Mirren was joined by her on-screen husband and co-star, Pierce Brosnan, 72, who plays Conrad Harrigan. The scenes were overseen by the show's creator, acclaimed director Guy Ritchie, 57.

For her character's signature bold style, Mirren wore leather trousers paired with a leopard-print top, layered under a faux fur jacket. She completed the look with platform heels, her silver hair swept up, and an array of striking gold jewellery. In one pivotal scene filmed at a café, her character met with Eddie Harrigan, played by Anson Boon, where a mysterious bag was exchanged between them, hinting at the tense narrative to come.

What's Next for the Harrigan Empire?

The series follows the powerful London crime syndicate led by Conrad and Maeve Harrigan as they defend their empire from rival threats. While specific plot details for the new season are closely guarded, it is expected to pick up directly after the bloody events of the season one finale.

The first season concluded with the Harrigans defeating rival family the Stevensons, but on a major cliffhanger: the couple's brutal fixer, Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy), was stabbed by his own wife, Jan (Joanne Froggatt). The aftermath of this betrayal and the ongoing power struggles will likely form the core of the new episodes.

A Family Reunion of a Different Kind

The MobLand filming comes just days after director Guy Ritchie made headlines for a rare public appearance with his ex-wife, Madonna. The pair put aside their well-documented differences to support their son, Rocco Ritchie, at his art exhibition in a Soho warehouse on Friday.

Rocco, 25, who is building his own career as an artist, shared his pride at having both parents together to support him. Madonna later reflected on the event, stating, "Art has a unique way of bringing people together." However, she notably omitted Ritchie from her own social media gallery from the day, suggesting a thaw in relations, if not a complete reconciliation.

Back on the MobLand set, the focus remained firmly on crafting the next chapter of the hit drama. With its star-studded cast and Ritchie's distinctive directorial style, fans can anticipate another season of high-stakes tension and underworld intrigue set against the backdrop of the capital.
