Host Bradley Walsh was left utterly stunned during the filming of The Chase Celebrity Christmas Special after a contestant achieved a remarkably high score in the opening round.
A Festive Quiz Show Line-Up
The special festive episode, scheduled to air on Christmas Eve, Wednesday 24 December at 5.55pm on ITV1, features a star-studded team. Comedian Lucy Porter, Countdown host Colin Murray, Strictly Come Dancing vocalist Tommy Blaize, and actor and comedian Asim Chaudhry will all take part. They face the formidable quintet of Chasers, who are all dressed in Christmas Lunch-themed costumes for the occasion.
Lucy Porter's Impressive Cash Builder Triumph
In an exclusive clip, the 52-year-old comedian Lucy Porter is seen excelling in the crucial cash builder round, where each correct answer adds £1,000 to the potential prize fund. Before the round began, host Bradley Walsh, 65, reminisced with Porter about her love of quizzing, stemming from childhood dinners where pudding was contingent on answering a trivia question.
"Every time I would answer a question, he'd need to give me a slice of Viennetta or an Arctic roll!" Porter recalled. She then proceeded to correctly answer ten questions in 60 seconds, banking an impressive total of £10,000.
Walsh's Reaction and The Chasers' Festive Attire
The extraordinary haul prompted cheers from the audience and her fellow celebrities. A visibly surprised Bradley Walsh remarked, "Well that was very, very rare that we get five figures in a cash builder. Ten grand, congratulations, time to face a Chaser!"
The episode will see all five Chasers—Mark 'The Beast' Labbett, Shaun 'The Dark Destroyer' Wallace, Anne 'The Governess' Hegerty, Paul 'The Sinnerman' Sinha, and Jenny 'The Vixen' Ryan—in full festive fancy dress. This year's theme sees The Beast as a Christmas Pudding, The Vixen as a Brussels sprout, The Menace as a Pig in Blanket, The Sinnerman as a Turkey, and The Governess as a glamorous Christmas Cracker.
