A gripping psychological horror thriller that has earned a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes is set to arrive on Disney+ in the United Kingdom within days. The film, titled Send Help, has been described as an "edge of your seat" experience, but viewers have issued a stark warning: do not watch while eating.
Release Date and Plot
After its theatrical release earlier this year, Send Help will be available for streaming on Disney+ from May 7. The story follows two colleagues, Linda Liddle (Rachel McAdams) and Bradley Preston (Dylan O’Brien), who survive a plane crash and find themselves stranded on a deserted island. As the only survivors, they must set aside their past workplace grievances and work together to survive. The official synopsis promises "an unsettling and darkly humorous battle of wills and wits to stay alive."
Cast and Crew
Directed by Sam Raimi, known for his work on Evil Dead and Spider-Man, the film features an award-winning cast. Alongside Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien, the cast includes Edyll Ismail, Dennis Haysbert, Xavier Samuel, Chris Pang, Thaneth Warakulnukroh, and Emma Raimi.
Critical Reception
Since its UK release, Send Help has garnered rave reviews. One viewer wrote: "This movie kept me on the edge of my seat, the ending was very surprising." Another commented: "A surprisingly tense ride that keeps you engaged from start to finish. What really works here is the pacing, it builds pressure nicely without dragging, and there’s always something pulling you forward." A third added: "Send Help was a total riot in the best thriller sense - intense, chaotic, and impossible to look away from. It kept the tension cranked up the whole time and delivered exactly the kind of wild ride I wanted. 5 stars."
However, some have issued warnings about the film's graphic content. One person cautioned: "This is not horror, this is over the top gore. Do not watch while you eat." Another echoed: "Absolutely disgusting - in the best way. Hard to watch at times, genuinely nasty, but clearly meant to push you there. I laughed, I cringed, and there were moments I literally couldn't look at the screen."
On IMDb, a reviewer stated: "Send Help quickly establishes itself as one of the most compelling and engaging films of the year, especially for viewers who were already intrigued by its intense and mysterious trailer." Fans on YouTube also praised the film, with one saying: "Watched it today, what a roller coaster of emotions! 10/10," and another calling it "a masterpiece."
Director's Inspiration
Director Sam Raimi explained his inspiration: "I’ve always loved stories where interesting, dynamic characters are pushed to extremes. In our story, the power shifts create an escalating situation that’s brimming with unexpected turns and suspense."
