Three individuals are facing a staggering 111 charges after authorities made a horrific discovery at a property in Alabama, uncovering nearly thirty deceased dogs and two dozen severely neglected animals.

Grim Discovery Following Neighbour's Alert

The Lee County Sheriff's Office was called to the scene on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, after a concerned neighbour raised the alarm. What deputies found was described as a scene of profound animal neglect and suffering.

Inside the home, investigators discovered 29 deceased dogs, each one stored inside a plastic bag. Alongside this grim find, they rescued a further 24 live dogs, all of whom were in an emaciated and malnourished state.

Three Suspects Arrested and Charged

Following the investigation, three people were taken into custody. They have been identified as Curtis Dewayne Haralson, 63, Patricia Ann Sims, 54, and Tiffany Ann Sims, 27.

The trio now faces a combined total of 111 criminal charges. The charges include eight counts of aggravated animal cruelty and 29 counts of failure to bury livestock, among others. Each suspect has been transported to the Lee County Jail, with bond set at $48,700 per person.

Rescued Dogs Now Seeking New Homes

In a positive turn following the distressing case, the 24 surviving dogs have been given a second chance. They have been placed in the care of the Animal Health Center of Opelika, where they are receiving necessary veterinary treatment and care.

The centre has confirmed that the rescued dogs are now available for adoption, offering them the opportunity for a safe and loving future after their ordeal.
