Frankie Bridge's Candid Health Journey: Perimenopause Concerns and Ongoing Depression Treatment
Former Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge has delivered an emotional update on her mental health journey, revealing she fears she may be entering perimenopause while continuing her long-term treatment for depression. The 36-year-old presenter appeared tearful in a recent YouTube vlog as she pleaded to understand "what's wrong with me", expressing frustration at struggling to "get my s**t together".
Hormone Testing and Perimenopause Suspicions
Bridge explained she is currently collecting urine and saliva samples for an at-home hormone test kit, with results expected in coming weeks. "If I'm not perimenopausal then what is wrong with me?" she questioned in the emotional clip. "Because I cannot talk, 'I just can't get my s**t together' and I'm like there has to be an excuse. There has to be something. But we will see." The singer-turned-presenter suspects hormonal changes might explain her recent difficulties.
Continued Ketamine Therapy for Depression
Bridge also filmed herself heading for ketamine treatment, which she first discussed publicly in 2024 but has been undergoing for several years. "I had my follow up appointment yesterday and I'm not fixed," she shared this week. "I need these ket appointments to keep me on track. I was saying to my therapist how I am grateful I can have them but a part of me is disappointed that I still need it."
She acknowledged that while some people receive ketamine treatment temporarily, her journey has been longer. "Some people have it and then they don't need it again. I have been on a real journey with it," Bridge explained. The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant added that the treatment has helped build confidence in making career decisions and breaking from institutionalized thinking patterns.
Recent PTSD Revelation and Health Struggles
In an earlier video this year, Bridge revealed she developed post-traumatic stress disorder following multiple health setbacks in 2025. The mother of two, who is also stepmother to husband Wayne Bridge's son from a previous relationship, described feeling "really low" as 2025 ended, with depression "just creeping in".
"I've had a bit of anxiety because I've had this nausea since Boxing Day," she shared in a Christmas vlog. "This time last year, for 2025, I was like, 'It's going to be my healthiest year. I'm going to look after myself properly.' I really did do all that, and then I was probably the sickest I've been for years for most of the year with my gut - like, loads of issues."
Bridge explained that fear of another year of poor health triggered PTSD symptoms. "I was like, 'Oh my god, I'm going to go into this year and I'm going to be ill all year again' and just got down on myself a little bit, which is no use to anyone," she confessed.
Long History with Mental Health Challenges
Frankie Bridge has been remarkably open about her mental health struggles throughout her career. She has described herself as "anxious from the womb" and began experiencing depression in her late teens. During her time with The Saturdays, she suffered panic attacks that significantly impacted her wellbeing.
Discussing ketamine intravenous treatment on her vlog last November, Bridge described her mental health as "always a work in progress" and emphasized her continuous search for improvement methods. "As someone who's never taken a drug before, it was terrifying. I've never had that feeling of completely letting go," she shared about beginning ketamine therapy. "I think I've realised control is a big thing for me, and that is fully being out of control - like I don't even like being really drunk. So I started it a few years ago and it is the only thing that really helps me long-term."
Bridge joined the Loose Women panel in 2021, where she has continued to discuss mental health issues openly, helping to destigmatize conversations around depression, anxiety, and treatment options for countless viewers facing similar challenges.
