I'm A Celebrity and Coronation Street star Beverley Callard has shared a health update with fans after revealing she was 'wiped out' following celebrations over her cancer news.
Beverley Callard's Cancer Journey
The 69-year-old actress first disclosed her breast cancer diagnosis in February and has been focusing on her treatment since. She initially experienced symptoms while participating in I'm A Celebrity... South Africa last September, eventually withdrawing on medical advice.
After announcing she could start radiotherapy soon, Callard took to Instagram to explain that celebrating had left her exhausted.
Celebration Leaves Her Exhausted
In a video update, she said: 'I've not really spoken to anyone for a couple of days just because when I got the good news that I can go ahead with radiotherapy, we opened the champagne. I had two and a half glasses and it's wiped me out for two days.'
She added: 'I've been really, really tired and really boring. So I'm going to go to bed really early tonight, and just rest. I've got loads of people to phone back and everything else, but I've just not been able to do it for the last couple of days. But I'm feeling fine.'
Alongside the clip, she wrote: 'Just a little update… feeling good, but super tired! Can't handle the champers like I used to!'
Fans Show Support
Fans were delighted with the update and encouraged her to rest. One wrote: 'I was so thrilled to hear your fantastic news xx.' Another said: 'Doesn't matter if you are resting and not on here or phoning or replying to anyone because everyone understands and in the grand scheme of things you are celebrating. So if it's wiped you out better champagne than decorating. Rest is the best and your doing the right thing.'
A third commented: 'Well deserved - you needed that champagne. Delighted to hear your good news.' Another added: 'So happy for you. Rest up when you need too. Sending lots of love.'
One follower wrote: 'Rest is the best medicine! Our body is so capable of repairing itself! So I am so glad that you are finally listening to it!! You are looking more comfortable and just remember that although we are not on YOUR journey your Instagram family is with you all the way!! Bless your heart!!'
Previous Updates
Beverley confirmed her diagnosis in February, revealing she received the news just minutes before filming a new TV series. She later learned that while the cancer was removed, it had spread to a lymph node. Recently, she became emotional sharing a positive update: 'One of the lymph nodes that they'd sent over for testing to see how aggressive the cancer would be and it's on low numbers, which is really good. That means I can begin the radiotherapy very soon, which I'm pleased about. So the next step is coming ahead. Thank you for all your messages, I'm sending loads of love.'
