Singer Brooke Josephson Announces Divorce Following Epstein Files Revelation
Singer Brooke Josephson publicly announced on Saturday that she is divorcing her husband, Barry Josephson, the executive producer of the television series Bones. This decision came after Barry's name emerged in the recently released Jeffrey Epstein files, which detail communications between him and the late convicted sex offender.
Public Statement on Instagram
Brooke Josephson, aged 46, shared the news via an Instagram Stories post, stating, 'Barry Josephson and I are going through a divorce.' She explained that this personal update was necessary 'in light of recent events in the news this week,' specifically referencing the Justice Department's release of documents on January 30. These documents included exchanges between her estranged spouse and Jeffrey Epstein.
In her message, Brooke emphasized that she 'was not aware of Barry's relationship with Jeffrey Epstein during [their] entire marriage.' The couple married in 2007, with Barry having previously served as a Columbia Pictures executive. She concluded by requesting 'privacy and prayers for our children and I during this time,' and thanked those who have shown 'compassion and respect' amid the turmoil.
Details from the Epstein Files
The released documents reveal frequent communications between Barry Josephson and Jeffrey Epstein, covering topics such as women and financial transactions. For instance, in a February 2011 exchange, Epstein asked Barry if he could arrange meetings with 'amazing women' in their early 20s in New York City. Barry responded by describing a woman as 'Young, attractive, insane rack,' and noted she was 'smart, although not a genius, but very efficient, will do anything, and tight lipped period end of story.'
Further communications from February 2013 show Barry inviting Epstein to casting sessions for a pilot, saying, 'Casting girls for my pilot on Monday if he wants to stop by my office :).' When Epstein requested specific women for roles in shows Barry produced, Barry expressed regret for not being able to fulfill these requests, stating he would 'do anything to make amends.' He also mentioned the challenges of the auditioning process, citing it as 'brutal, it’s harsh, it’s filled with disappointment,' and noted it was difficult even to secure a small role for Brooke on Bones in 2007.
Financial Transactions and Apologies
The documents also indicate financial dealings between Barry Josephson and Jeffrey Epstein. Barry borrowed $120,000 in 2011 and $215,000 in 2013, both of which were repaid. After settling the second loan, Barry told Epstein, 'I am overwhelmed by your friendship.'
In response to the revelations, Barry issued a statement to Variety earlier this month, expressing remorse. He said, 'There's no excuse for what I said in some of my emails. The language was crude and juvenile, and I'm ashamed.' He clarified that while he attended social events with Epstein and Epstein visited his sets twice, he never traveled on Epstein's plane, visited his island, or saw him with minors.
Barry added, 'In my 47 years working in the entertainment industry, I've encountered thousands of people. My biggest regret, bar none, is that I foolishly believed his denials of wrongdoing.' He admitted to being 'blinded' by Epstein's 'circle of acquaintances from varied industries,' which led him to misjudge the situation. He concluded by apologizing 'to all who were hurt by this clearly terrible and depraved individual.'
Daily Mail has reached out to both parties for further comment on the story, but no additional statements have been released at this time.
