Jackie 'O' Henderson Accuses ARN Media of Wrongful Termination Over $200M Deal Collapse
Jackie 'O' Henderson Accuses ARN of Wrongful Termination

Radio personality Jackie 'O' Henderson has reportedly levelled serious accusations against her former employer, ARN Media, alleging wrongful termination and misleading investors in the wake of the dramatic collapse of her $200 million radio contract with co-host Kyle Sandilands. The controversy erupted last week when ARN announced the termination of Henderson's $100 million contract, citing her statement to executives that she 'cannot continue to work with Mr Kyle Sandilands' following his harsh on-air comments that left her visibly distressed.

Disputed Claims and Legal Threats

In a public statement, ARN asserted that it had 'offered to Ms Henderson the possibility of an alternative show on the ARN network.' However, Henderson, through her manager Gemma O'Neill, has vehemently denied this, stating she 'did not quit or resign' and was 'deeply saddened... [by] the possibility of the show ending.' She described her exit as 'a shock,' contradicting ARN's narrative.

According to sources close to Henderson's legal correspondence with ARN, as reported by the Australian Financial Review, Henderson is threatening the company with a wrongful termination lawsuit. This suggests she did not intend to abandon her contract with The Kyle And Jackie O Show, but instead argues the network exploited the situation to remove her from what had become a costly financial arrangement. Henderson is also reportedly contesting ARN's claim that another show was offered, alleging no such opportunity was presented.

ARN's Response and Sandilands' Suspension

An ARN spokesperson has told media outlets that the company stands by its official statement to the ASX, maintaining its position on the matter. Meanwhile, ARN has taken separate action against Kyle Sandilands, providing written notice that it considers his behaviour during the February 20 broadcast to be 'an act of serious misconduct which is in breach of ARN's service agreement with Quasar Media.'

Sandilands has been suspended and given 14 days to 'remedy' the breach, or face termination. The radio titan has reportedly engaged lawyers and is 'preparing to sue' ARN should his $100 million contract be terminated following the show's collapse last month. In a statement released on Tuesday, Sandilands claimed he has been 'muzzled' by ARN, barred from contacting Henderson or speaking with colleagues, adding another layer of tension to the dispute.

Communication Breakdown and Personal Insights

Amid the turmoil, Henderson reportedly reached out to Sandilands last week after hearing he felt 'betrayed' by their employer. Upon connecting, both hosts apparently realised ARN had told them separately that neither party wanted to be contacted by the other. A source revealed, 'They both realised, like, "Why aren't we allowed to talk to each other?"' highlighting a potential manipulation of communications by the network.

On a personal note, Henderson was last spotted on Friday heading to the gym for a low-key workout. She showcased her slim frame in a tight T-shirt and loose sweatpants, completing her look with red-and-white sneakers. Attempting to maintain privacy, the radio star covered her face behind a pair of sunglasses, perhaps seeking respite from the intense media scrutiny surrounding her professional ordeal.
