Jessie Buckley Shines at Oscars Luncheon Ahead of Best Actress Nomination
Jessie Buckley Glams Up for Oscars Luncheon as Nominee

Irish actress Jessie Buckley made a glamorous appearance at the 98th Academy Awards Oscar nominees luncheon, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on Tuesday evening. The 36-year-old star, who has earned a nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in "Hamnet", looked stunning as she posed on the red carpet in a strapless black dress.

Elegant Style and High Spirits

Striking a series of poses for the cameras, Jessie added height to her frame with a pair of black pointed court heels. She kept her accessories minimal, allowing the dress to take centre stage, and opted for a blue choker necklace to complement her ensemble. The actress appeared in high spirits, sharing laughs on the red carpet before heading inside the hotel for the star-studded luncheon.

Recognition and Competitive Field

It was announced last month that Jessie has received an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Agatha Shakespeare in "Hamnet". After winning a Golden Globe and a Critics' Choice Award earlier this month, she will enter the ceremony on March 15 in Los Angeles as a nominee, four years after her previous nod for "The Lost Daughter". The Best Actress category is highly competitive, with Jessie facing off against Rose Byrne for "If I Had Legs I'd Kick You", Kate Hudson for "Song Sung Blue", Renate Reinsve for "Sentimental Value", and Emma Stone for "Bugonia".

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jessie expressed her excitement, stating, "My baby's screaming in the background, but I am thrilled. I'm so proud and honoured to be beside all those extraordinary women and to be there with Hamnet. I'm delighted."

Co-Star Support and Film Nominations

"Hamnet" has received a total of eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director for Chloe Zhao. However, Paul Mescal, Jessie's co-star, was surprisingly snubbed in the Best Supporting Actor category. Jessie believes her own recognition "belongs" to Paul as much as herself, emphasising their collaborative effort. She said, "I know what we created together is something that's so special to us, and I hold that so dearly in my heart, and there's no part of Agnes that exists without Paul."

She added, "There's no part of what I created or what we created in this story which exists without Paul and what he poured into this story. So what is recognised belongs to him as much as him being recognised in his own category would."

Other Key Oscar Battles

The main competition at the upcoming Oscars will feature Timothée Chalamet and Leonardo DiCaprio facing off in the coveted Best Actor category. Timothée, 30, received a nod for "Marty Supreme", while Leo, 51, earned it for "One Battle After Another". They will compete against Ethan Hawke for "Blue Moon", Michael B. Jordan for "Sinners", and Wagner Moura for "The Secret Agent".
