Adam Peaty's Parents Confront New Heartache in Gordon Ramsay's Documentary
The parents of Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, Caroline and Mark Peaty, are bracing for renewed emotional distress as a forthcoming Netflix documentary highlights their son's deep connection with his new in-laws, the Ramsay family. This development follows their painful exclusion from Adam's wedding to Holly Ramsay last December, which has publicly exposed a bitter family rift.
Wedding Snub and Documentary Spotlight
Caroline and Mark Peaty, who were once close to their son, were notably absent from his Christmas wedding to Holly Ramsay, daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. The new six-part series, Being Gordon Ramsay, set to premiere on Netflix, features Adam speaking glowingly about his father-in-law, Gordon, in terms that could easily be mistaken for describing his own father. In the documentary, Adam expresses, "I knew I wanted to marry Hol, and I knew that because, without getting emotional, because I like to get emotional, Holly brings me a peace that I've never had in all aspects of my life."
He further elaborates on his admiration for the Ramsay family dynamic, stating, "I've seen how her family works. And I think when you're marrying someone, I believe you're also marrying into the family. And for me, Gordon is very fair, very respectful, but also loves a good joke. We're very similar." Gordon Ramsay reciprocates the praise, calling Adam "so grounded" and "an absolute thoroughbred."
Minimal Inclusion and Ongoing Feud
Despite previous reports suggesting the Peaty family had requested not to be featured, the documentary includes Caroline Peaty for a mere four seconds, showing her hugging Holly at an engagement party. However, the series largely focuses on the Ramsays, with Adam making no reference to his own upbringing or family. At the engagement event, held at one of Gordon's London restaurants, speeches by Gordon, Holly, and Adam centered on the Ramsay family, further sidelining Adam's parents.
Gordon Ramsay addressed the feud publicly, describing it as "upsetting" and "self-inflicted from their side," while denying any rudeness or ignorance from his family. He revealed that it was Adam and Holly's decision to exclude Caroline and Mark from the wedding, stating, "It was Adam and Holly's wishes for them not to attend and so we had to respect that. There's stuff they need to sort out as parents."
Attempts at Reconciliation and Underlying Issues
In a recent interview, Gordon expressed a desire to mend fences, saying he would like to visit the Peatys in Nottingham with his wife Tana to "draw a line in the sand." Tana Ramsay added, "We've had fallouts within my family, there are no winners. You don't have to be best friends, but be civil. You can't be happy when there's a fallout going on."
The feud reportedly escalated in November when Caroline Peaty was allegedly not invited to Holly's hen party. Adam later took to Instagram to claim that he, Holly, and his sister Bethany had been "targeted" by false reports encouraged by members of his family, citing an ongoing police investigation into serious matters predating recent events.
As the documentary launches on Netflix, it is seen as unlikely to heal the rift, with a TV source noting, "This series is unlikely to help to heal the rift." The Peaty family, including Adam's brothers James and Richard, remained 150 miles away on the wedding day, highlighting the deep divisions that continue to affect all parties involved.
