The managing director of Festival Republic, the parent company of Wireless Festival, has issued a public statement defending the controversial decision to book Kanye West as a headliner. The festival director also highlighted his personal background, describing himself as a "deeply committed anti-fascist" who lived on a kibbutz in the 1970s that was attacked on October 7th. He stated he is "pro Jew and the Jewish state" while equally committed to a Palestinian state.

Benn emphasized that West has a legal right to enter the United Kingdom and perform, noting that the artist's music is already widely available through commercial radio stations, live streams, and downloads without commentary or vitriol.
