British-born US Citizen Arrested for Georgia Double Murder Described as 'Pure Evil'
A British-born man who became a United States citizen in 2022 has been arrested and accused of shooting and killing two women in the US state of Georgia, in what officials have characterised as "acts of pure evil". The suspect, Olaolukitan Adon Abel, aged 26, is also linked to the shooting of a man who remains in a critical condition following the violent incidents.
Victims Include Department of Homeland Security Employee
One of the victims has been identified as Lauren Bullis, an employee of the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS). US Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin confirmed that Ms Bullis was "brutally shot and stabbed to death" in an attack he described without reservation as "pure evil". Secretary Mullin provided further details, stating that the suspect, Abel, was born in the United Kingdom and was naturalised as a US citizen by the Biden Administration in the year 2022.
Sequence of Violent Attacks Across Multiple Locations
The violent spree reportedly involved multiple shootings across different locations. According to official statements, Abel has also been arrested for the murder of an as-yet unidentified woman, whom he is alleged to have shot outside a Checkers restaurant. Prior to that, he is accused of randomly shooting a homeless man multiple times outside a Kroger supermarket located in Brookhaven, Georgia. The homeless victim is reported to be in a critical condition as a result of the attack.
Arrest and Ongoing Investigation
The Brookhaven Police Department confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody without incident in Troup County, which is situated southwest of Atlanta. The arrest followed coordinated efforts with local detectives. In a subsequent statement, police indicated that further investigation has revealed Abel is also responsible for other shootings that occurred earlier in unincorporated DeKalb County. Authorities have emphasised that this remains an active and ongoing investigation, with more details likely to emerge as the case develops.

Secretary Mullin expressed the profound impact of these crimes, stating: "These acts of pure evil have devastated our department and my prayers are with the families of the victims." The case has drawn significant attention due to the nature of the attacks, the status of one victim as a federal employee, and the background of the suspect as a recently naturalised US citizen originally from Britain. The community and law enforcement continue to grapple with the aftermath of these tragic and seemingly random acts of violence.
