Diego's Story

The latest book follows 14-year-old Diego, who lives in desperate poverty with his siblings. With an absent father and an alcoholic mother, Diego becomes a target for County Lines gang members. He is entrapped, abused, and witnesses terrible crimes before escaping a murder scene. Foster carer Louise Allen steps in to help him overcome his disturbing past and find safety. The story explores whether Diego can finally feel safe and what happens when the gang comes looking for him.

Louise Allen also founded the charity Spark Sisterhood, which supports girls in and leaving care with employment pathways and mentoring.
