Dr Hannah Fry, the mathematician and BBC presenter known for her YouTube channel with over 100 million views, has reportedly signed up for the second series of Celebrity Traitors. The 42-year-old professor of mathematics at the University of Cambridge is expected to bring both intellect and personality to the show, following in the footsteps of historian David Olusoga from the first series.
Hannah Fry's Career and TV Presence
Fry, who became the first Professor of the Public Understanding of Mathematics at Cambridge last year, has built a significant broadcast career. She hosts Curious Cases on BBC Radio 4, The Secret Genius Of Modern Life on BBC Two, and has appeared on Have I Got News For You. Her YouTube channel has amassed over 100 million views, showcasing her ability to engage a wide audience.
Insider Insights on Her Role
A source told The Sun: “Dr Fry very much ticks the ‘academic’ box filled last year by Dr David Olusoga, who made it to the final. She isn’t just a brainbox, however; she has a great personality and already has a loyal band of followers thanks to her BBC shows. It’s fair to say there are going to be some very clever people taking part this year.”
Celebrity Traitors Series Two Line-Up
Fry is among several stars rumoured for the show, which drew over 15 million viewers for its grand final. Other names touted include Oasis legend Liam Gallagher, Girls Aloud star Cheryl Tweedy, This Morning's Alison Hammond, and actors Richard E Grant and Hugh Bonneville. Producers are also keen to secure Hugh Grant, according to reports.
Richard E Grant's Interest
Richard E Grant, known for Withnail and I, previously expressed his love for the show, though his daughter doubted his ability to hide his feelings. He told The Observer: “I’m obsessed with The Traitors. I’d love to go on it. My daughter said I’d be thrown out after half an hour because you’re incapable of hiding what you feel about somebody.”
BBC's Response
A BBC spokesman declined to comment on speculation, stating: “We are not commenting on speculation and details for The Celebrity Traitors series two will be announced in due course.”
Odds and Expectations
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes told the Mirror: “Celebrity Traitors chiefs have a lot to live up to after the resounding success of series one, and if the latest odds are anything to go by, we could be in for another A-list line-up.”
