Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino has spoken out about his Jersey Shore co-star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro's recent concerning behavior during an interview. Ortiz-Magro, 40, appeared to nod off during a cast sit-down with Stars on Sirius XM, prompting Sorrentino, 43, to address the situation publicly.
On Friday, Sorrentino took to Instagram Stories to share his thoughts. 'I want to be clear that I am not responsible for the actions of any other cast member,' he wrote. 'At the same time, my heart is heavy seeing what Ron, a grown adult, chose to present during press.'
Sorrentino continued, 'The situation is still developing, and while I do not know the full extent of what he may be going through, I do know it is separate from my path.' The Daily Mail has reached out to Ortiz-Magro for comment but has not yet received a response.
In the April interview promoting Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, Ortiz-Magro's eyes slowly shut and his posture drooped as Deena Nicole Cortese, 39, spoke. 'While MTV is our home and we are so grateful to them, now it’s time to move on. We’re just kind of finding a place to park at this point,' she said as fans noticed Ortiz-Magro struggling in the background. He swayed on his stool as Sorrentino, seated next to him, added, 'I think we’re all very grateful like Deena said. Maybe we’ll follow in the Kardashians' footsteps as they went from cable to streaming.'
Sorrentino, who marked 10 years of sobriety in December 2025 and owns several rehab facilities, vowed in his note to help his longtime friend. 'I will help where I can, including through my organization, The Archangel Centers. I reached out to check in and offer my support, and I am still waiting to hear back. If he is willing, I will be there for him. My heart is with anyone who is struggling.' He added, 'I have worked hard to protect my sobriety for nearly 11 years, and I honor that every day while continuing to show up with compassion for others.'
The clip of Ortiz-Magro's behavior was shared on X by fan account @HousewivesHub, with the caption, 'Oh Ronnie does not look well… the nodding off.' Fans speculated about his condition, with one asking, 'Is he on heroin to be nodding out like that?' Another noted, 'Mike is looking healthier, man. He should help him!'
Ortiz-Magro previously halted filming of the 2021 Jersey Shore reboot after a domestic violence arrest. He was ordered to take parenting classes and placed under a three-year protective order from his ex-girlfriend Jenn Harley. In 2022, he announced he was one year sober. This past March, TMZ reported that police were called to his Miami home to help his ex-girlfriend Kirsten 'peacefully' remove her belongings. A rep for the reality star told the outlet, 'He was in the process of separating from his long term girlfriend, and it was at his request for her to call the police to ensure that the separation/moving out was peaceful... Because he's been the recipient of falsehoods in the past, and is in a really good place and didn't want there to be any unnecessary drama.'
