U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro has confirmed that new evidence indicates a federal agent was shot during an alleged assassination attempt on Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner last weekend. Speaking on CNN, Pirro stated that a pellet from the buckshot of the defendant's Mossberg pump-action shotgun was found intertwined with the vest fiber of a Secret Service officer.
Details of the Incident
The suspect, Cole Thomas Allen, 31, allegedly rushed security and fired a shotgun on April 25, reportedly targeting members of the Trump administration. The attack led to Donald Trump and other high-profile figures being rushed from the Washington Hilton ballroom. Allen was booked on April 27 and placed in a 'safe cell' with padded walls and 24-hour lockdown, requiring him to wear a vest akin to a straitjacket. He has since asked a judge to remove suicide precautions.
Pirro's Role in the Case
Pirro stated that she will not recuse herself from the case, despite her presence as a witness during the incident. She emphasized that the new evidence strengthens the case against Allen, providing clear proof that his actions endangered the lives of law enforcement officers. The investigation continues as authorities work to determine the full extent of the plot and any potential accomplices.
