Spirit Airlines Closure: Stranded Passengers Without Bags

Passengers have been left stranded at airports without their luggage following the sudden closure of a major low-cost airline, Spirit Airlines, which cancelled all flights and ceased customer service operations.

Immediate Shutdown Leaves Travelers in Limbo

One of America's largest budget carriers, Spirit Airlines, announced its closure "effective immediately," leaving travellers across the country in disarray. The airline stated, "All Spirit flights have been cancelled and Spirit guests should not go to the airport."

As a result, customers were unable to secure connecting flights and have been left stuck at airports nationwide, with many uncertain about the location of their checked baggage.

Stranded Passengers Await Answers

On Sunday, a day after the closure, some passengers continued to wait at airports for their luggage. One traveller expressed their frustration, saying they "don't know what to do" as they await updates on their belongings. Speaking to NBC6, a passenger remarked, "I cannot fly because I don’t have my bags with me, so I'm just stuck here."

Grace Florez, who was travelling from North Carolina to Colombia, became stuck in Fort Lauderdale after her connection was cancelled. Nearly two days later, she still has no information about her bags. "It's difficult, and it's frustrating," she said. "I just go with the flow. I don’t stress myself, but I need to work tomorrow."

With the airline having no customer service available, she is left without answers. "I’m clueless," she added. "I hope they are somewhere back there. I don’t know what to do. Other than waiting."
