Two More Charged Following Old Firm Disorder at Scottish Cup Tie
Two More Charged After Old Firm Pitch Invasion

Two more individuals have been charged in relation to the disorder that occurred during the Scottish Cup match between Rangers and Celtic last month. The incident, which took place on March 8, saw several police officers and members of the public sustain injuries after fans stormed the pitch following Celtic's penalty shootout victory over their Glasgow rivals.

Details of the Disorder

Following the final whistle, dozens of travelling Celtic supporters rushed onto the pitch to celebrate, prompting more than 100 Rangers fans to charge towards them in an attempt to confront them. Police and stewards quickly formed a barrier to prevent a large-scale clash, but violence ensued, with missiles—including a lit flare—being thrown. A 10-year-old child was reportedly struck by a coin, and one officer was hit on the head with a bottle. Footage also captured a female officer being kicked to the ground from behind by a Rangers fan sprinting towards the Broomloan stand, which housed 7,500 Celtic supporters.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities have been conducting Operation Moonglint, an investigation launched specifically to identify those responsible for the disorder. Several arrests have already been made. On Sunday, police confirmed that two further men, aged 18 and 19, have been arrested and charged with various offences related to the incident. They are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
