Gabriel Jesus Confronts Man City Fan in Heated Touchline Exchange
Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus was embroiled in a tense confrontation with a Manchester City fan during the crucial Premier League encounter on Sunday, as the Gunners suffered a 2-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium.
The 29-year-old Brazilian, who was an unused substitute for Mikel Arteta's side, became visibly agitated while warming up on the touchline. In a viral social media video titled 'I love watching Arsenal cry', a home supporter behind him was heard shouting: 'Judas, what's the score?'
Jesus Defends His Legacy with Passionate Retort
This taunt immediately caught Jesus's attention, prompting him to walk towards the fan and respond emphatically: 'I have won 11 titles here', while pointing at his chest and the ground. The fan countered with: 'Yeah, but who are you now? Who are you now?', leading Jesus to point back and make a gesture with his hands on his head.
Jesus originally joined Manchester City from Palmeiras in January 2017 as a 19-year-old, following a £27 million transfer agreed the previous summer. Over five-and-a-half years, he developed significantly, scoring 95 goals in 236 appearances and contributing to a highly successful period for the club.
- During his time at City, the team secured four Premier League titles, four EFL Cups, one FA Cup, and two Community Shields.
- Jesus played a pivotal role in these triumphs before moving to Arsenal in the summer of 2022 for £45 million, seeking more regular game time.
Struggles at Arsenal and Current Form
Despite a promising start at the Emirates, Jesus has faced challenges in maintaining momentum. The 29-year-old, who has earned 64 caps for Brazil, has yet to win a trophy with Arsenal and has been plagued by a series of injury issues.
This includes a serious knee injury from which he returned in December, but he has started only two Premier League games since. In total, he has netted 31 times in 120 matches for the North London club.
Meanwhile, Sunday's defeat saw Arsenal's lead at the top of the Premier League table reduced to three points. Pep Guardiola's Manchester City also hold a game in hand and could ascend to the top if they defeat Burnley on Wednesday.
