Tuchel's Personal Life Takes Back Seat as England World Cup Squad Nears

England manager Thomas Tuchel will announce his squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Friday morning, with reports suggesting several high-profile players have been omitted. The Three Lions aim to end 60 years of hurt in North America this summer, following quarter-final exits in 2022 and a semi-final appearance in 2018.

According to reports, Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, Chelsea forward Cole Palmer, and Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden have all been left out of Tuchel's squad. Real Madrid's Trent Alexander-Arnold and Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton are also expected to miss out, while Brentford's Jordan Henderson, 35, and Al-Ahli striker Ivan Toney are believed to be included.

Tuchel, who replaced Sir Gareth Southgate in October 2024, has an impressive managerial CV, having won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup with Chelsea, as well as league titles in France and Germany. However, his personal life has also attracted attention, particularly his split from wife Sissi in 2022 after 13 years of marriage.

The couple divorced in April 2022, just months after Sissi moved to Surrey with their two daughters to be closer to Tuchel during his Chelsea tenure. A source told the Mail on Sunday at the time: 'Sissi and Thomas have tried to avoid splitting, but in the end, there was no other way.' Weeks later, Tuchel began a relationship with Brazilian mother-of-two Natalie Max, who is 13 years his junior. The couple have been together since May 2022 and are said to be 'very much in love'.
