The wife of New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has publicly come to the defence of Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen, the former spouse of Patriots legend Tom Brady. Ann Michael Maye made the supportive comments during a recent interview, addressing online comparisons made by fans.
From TikTok Baker to Television Star
Ann Michael Maye has cultivated a significant following in New England through her popular TikTok account, which showcases her baking skills. She rose to prominence with her festive 'Bakemas' series and has now leveraged that success into a television programme titled 'Beyond Bakemas', which airs on NBC Sports Boston.
During a behind-the-scenes discussion for the new show with Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, Maye revealed that she regularly reads the comments on her social media posts. While she finds many humorous—particularly those joking about 'tucking' her husband, star quarterback Drake Maye, into bed—she also felt compelled to address the frequent mentions of Gisele Bundchen.
A Defence for the Supermodel
In a clip shared online, the North Carolina graduate directly responded to the comparisons. "Yeah it's always, 'Gisele could never,' 'Gisele would never.' She's been pretty good, guys, it's okay," Maye stated, offering a charitable perspective on Bundchen's legacy.
Gisele Bundchen, now 45, was a constant presence during Tom Brady's historic 20-season tenure with the Patriots, where he won six Super Bowls. She relocated with him to Tampa Bay in 2020, where he secured a seventh championship that same season. Despite her reported dismay at Brady's decision to continue playing, their 13-year marriage ended in divorce in 2022.
Since the split, Bundchen has remarried, tying the knot with jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente. Tom Brady, now 48, has been linked in rumours to 25-year-old social media influencer Alix Earle.
A New Era for the Patriots
The defence of Bundchen comes as the Patriots franchise itself has emphatically moved into a new chapter. After struggling with quarterback Mac Jones, the team selected Drake Maye with the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Maye has since transformed into an MVP-calibre player this season, engineering a remarkable turnaround for the team. His leadership was on full display just this past Sunday, when he guided the Patriots to their first AFC Divisional round appearance since the 2018 season—a year that ended with a Super Bowl victory under Tom Brady.
The Patriots now await the winner of the final Wild Card game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Houston Texans.
