Cristiano Ronaldo's dream of playing alongside his son is edging closer to reality, as Al-Nassr consider promoting 15-year-old Cristiano Jr to the first team next season. The young striker, already a Portugal youth international and under-17 World Cup winner, could join his father on the pitch in the Saudi Pro League.
Father-Son Duo on the Horizon
According to Arab newspaper Al Wiam, Al-Nassr are contemplating integrating Cristiano Jr into their senior squad for the upcoming campaign. Born in the USA, the teenager will turn 16 in June, meeting the Saudi Pro League's minimum age requirement of 16. Ronaldo, who turned 41 in February, is under contract with Al-Nassr until the end of next season, making the timing ideal.
Cristiano Jr previously spent time at Real Madrid's academy, with reports suggesting the Spanish giants were interested in signing him. He has also represented Portugal at youth level, helping the under-17 team win the World Cup in 2025.
Ronaldo's Long-Standing Wish
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has often expressed his desire to play a professional match alongside his son. "I would like it, I would like it," Ronaldo said last year. "It's not something that keeps me up at night, but I would like it. We'll see. It's more in his hands than in mine."
He added: "The years are starting to pass and, obviously, Cris will have to, one day, leave football. There will come a time when it's no longer possible. Not only physically but psychologically. But I also don't see it as an obsession. He will follow his path. I will be a proud father."
Current Season Focus
For now, Ronaldo is focused on finishing the season strongly with Al-Nassr before his final World Cup this summer. Since moving to Saudi Arabia in late 2022, he has yet to win the Saudi title. Al-Nassr, managed by Jorge Jesus, currently top the table by eight points with five games remaining, though rivals Al-Hilal have a game in hand. A potential title decider between the two sides is scheduled for May.
