The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has issued an urgent recall notice for six separate products, warning consumers of serious safety risks. The list includes a hair dryer, two types of heater, two children's toys, and an LED lamp, all of which have been withdrawn from sale.
Full List of Recalled Products and Their Dangers
The safety watchdog confirmed the products were identified as failing to meet mandatory UK safety regulations. Most were intercepted at the border or removed from online marketplaces. The recall, issued on 17 January 2026, highlights critical hazards ranging from fire and explosion risks to potential choking and suffocation.
Children's Toys Pose Severe Hazards
A toy cash register with plastic fruit and vegetables has been recalled due to a dual threat. The plastic strawberry is small enough to be a choking hazard for children under 36 months. Furthermore, the product's packaging is a plastic bag, which presents a clear suffocation risk if a child places it over their head. The model code for this item is CF8544 and the barcode is X0021EQAQ.
Separately, a Starmoto children's e-bike has been flagged as a serious fire risk. The blue 'Glidex' model, with the identifier SMT805bl-EU-20, has not undergone proper UK safety assessments. Officials found no technical documentation or evidence of production control. The charger or battery could overheat, potentially causing a fire. It was also supplied with an unsuitable two-pin EU plug. The plug model is FY0422941000E.
Electrical Goods Risk Overheating and Explosion
A leafless hair dryer, model YM42, has been recalled because its plug fuse lacks sufficient granular filler. This essential safety component prevents overheating; without it, the plug could overheat or even explode during a fault.
Similarly, a space heater labelled 'X9' on its packaging (product identifier YM 45-3) has been classified as counterfeit for the same reason. The insufficient filler in its plug fuse creates a significant fire and explosion hazard.
An LED lamp sold on Amazon has also been withdrawn for presenting a major fire risk. The product, with Amazon Standard Identification Number B0DN64JY7M, does not meet fuse size requirements and has inadequate internal circuit spacing, raising the risk of overheating or explosion. Amazon has removed the listing.
Critical Warning Over Deadly Diesel Heater
Perhaps the most alarming recall is for a Vevor Diesel Heater with an orange and black casing (model XMZ-F-D1). This product has been recalled due to a severe risk of carbon monoxide poisoning, which can be fatal. The heater lacks crucial safety information and instructions, failing to warn users that diesel heaters require adequate ventilation to prevent a lethal build-up of the odourless gas.
What Consumers Should Do Now
The OPSS advises anyone who may have purchased these items to stop using them immediately. Consumers should check their homes against the detailed product descriptions and model numbers provided. These products are not considered safe for use under any circumstances and pose genuine threats to life and property.
This coordinated action underscores the vital role of UK safety standards in protecting the public from substandard and dangerous goods entering the market, particularly those sold online or imported directly.
