Shane Williams, 29, and his partner Sarah Camden, 29, have dramatically transformed their lives by abandoning conventional nine-to-five employment to embrace a nomadic existence as campsite wardens. This bold move has enabled them to save an impressive £2,000 every month while enjoying complimentary accommodation and utilities.
From Corporate Grind to Outdoor Freedom
Previously entrenched in the demanding worlds of estate agency and banking, the couple collectively worked a staggering 90 hours per week. They grew increasingly frustrated with the relentless routine, which left them with merely two hours of quality time together each evening. "We were sick of getting home at 5pm at night doing our normal jobs," Shane explained. "We had two hours of seeing each other and have to do it all over again whereas now we get to work with each other every day."
Three years ago, they relocated from Hereford to Wrexham, driven by a desire to escape the financial burden of housing costs. "We thought we don't want to go and spend £1,000 per month on a mortgage or rent," Shane recounted. Their solution was to purchase a caravan, a decision that has profoundly reshaped their daily lives.

As campsite wardens, Shane and Sarah now work 40 hours across five days, performing tasks such as grass cutting, guest welcoming, and maintenance. Each earns £1,900 monthly, with significant perks including:

Investments and Travel Opportunities
The couple's financial strategy has allowed for considerable investments in their mobile lifestyle. Initially utilizing a caravan gifted by a relative, they recently upgraded to a new £7,000 model using accumulated savings. In September 2024, they acquired a £13,000 campervan, facilitating extensive travel during their time off.
In 2025, they embarked on four getaways, and last year, they took a four-month break to focus on creating branded social media content. "It's nice as well to have a job role that had a different way of life," Sarah remarked. "You get used to being at home and never in the open whereas here we're closer to being outdoors all the time."

Shane and Sarah were promoted to head wardens, managing the wardens team and earning an additional £400 each monthly. However, they have since returned to their previous positions to maintain a balanced schedule. Their current roster provides two days off weekly, with one four-day break monthly.
Looking ahead, the couple aims to save for a house, not for personal residence but as a rental investment. "The plan is to save up for a house but we don't want to live in it, we'll just rent it out and let someone else pay off the mortgage," Shane disclosed. "We're thinking long-term we need to have a big bit of a safety net."

Their caravan home is adorned with personal touches, including fairy lights on the awning, and they have welcomed Sunnie, an eight-month-old English cocker spaniel puppy, into their family. Friends and relatives frequently visit, staying at the five-star campsite free of charge.
