Apple has confirmed a monumental year for its digital services arm, with 2025 setting new records for user engagement across its music, television, and app platforms. The tech giant revealed that more people used its suite of services last year than at any previous point in its history.
Music and Entertainment Lead the Charge
Apple Music enjoyed its best year ever in 2025, breaking records for both total listenership and new subscriber numbers. The service, available on iOS and Android, was bolstered by feature updates like Lyrics Translation and the AutoMix tool, which creates seamless transitions between songs. Meanwhile, Apple TV's engagement skyrocketed by 36% in December compared to the previous year, driven by hit series like 'Slow Horses' and 'The Studio', as well as new additions such as the Brad Pitt-starring F1 film and the drama 'Pluribus'.
App Store and Podcasts Hit New Highs
The App Store also reported a stellar performance, averaging over 850 million weekly users globally. The period between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day saw a record number of visitors, with customer spending on digital goods and services also reaching an all-time peak. Apple Podcasts similarly had its best year to date, achieving record numbers for listeners, plays, and subscribers.
Expanding Ecosystem and User Features
Beyond entertainment, Apple expanded several key services. Apple Fitness+ was rolled out to more regions, while Apple Arcade added over 50 new games. Practical features were also enhanced: the Share Item Location function in Find My was extended to 27 additional airlines, bringing the total to 36. Apple says this has helped reduce 'truly lost' luggage by 90%. Furthermore, Apple Maps brought its Detailed City Experience to new locations including New Orleans, Singapore, and Monaco, the latter featuring a custom 3D experience for the F1 Grand Prix.
Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Services, stated: "2025 was a record-breaking year for Apple services, marked by remarkable growth, global expansion, and continuous innovation. From Apple TV, Apple Music, and Apple News, to daily essentials like Apple Pay and iCloud, we delivered enriching experiences to users worldwide." He added that the impressive numbers reflect the incredible enthusiasm of customers, whether they are discovering a new app, watching a hit show, or listening to their favourite music.
