Gardai have launched a fresh investigation after a body was discovered following another fire at the same County Offaly house where a four-year-old boy and his great-aunt were murdered in a devastating arson attack in December 2025. The grim discovery was made at the property on Castleview Park in Edenderry, reigniting fears and sorrow in the local community.

The case had previously seen a man in his late 20s detained on suspicion of murder in connection with the December killings, but he was released without charge in January 2026.
