Pennsylvania Man Faces Attempted Murder Charge in Planet Fitness Stabbing

A 28-year-old Pennsylvania man has been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder after allegedly stabbing a Planet Fitness employee multiple times in a violent altercation at a gym in Cheltenham Township. The incident occurred on Thursday, approximately 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia, following the suspect's ban from the facility due to an unpaid membership bill.

Escalation of Violence at the Gym

According to police reports, Davier Massey, the accused, visited the Planet Fitness location twice on Thursday. His first visit in the morning was brief, but he returned around 12:30 p.m., storming the building and causing a significant disturbance. Arguments between Massey and a gym employee quickly escalated, leading to the alleged stabbing. Police responded to the scene and found the victim with multiple stab wounds, who was then transported to a trauma center for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The victim, whose identity has not been released, is reportedly recovering in hospital.

Massey was apprehended a short distance away within the Cedarbrook Shopping Plaza, where the gym is located. In response to the incident, the Planet Fitness branch was closed for the remainder of the day, with signs citing an "unexpected emergency." Members expressed shock and concern, noting the tight-knit community atmosphere of the gym.
