David and Victoria Beckham have offered fans a glimpse of their lighter side, sharing a video of themselves dancing at home, even as a painful estrangement from their eldest son, Brooklyn, continues to cast a shadow over the family.
A Playful Moment Captured on Camera
On Saturday, the couple's 14-year-old daughter, Harper, filmed her famous parents practising some dance moves in their loungewear. The impromptu session was set to a Bruno Mars track, in preparation for the singer's upcoming tour.
Victoria, 51, later reposted the clip to her own Instagram Story, writing: 'We are preparing for the concert', and tagging their sons Cruz and Romeo. In a follow-up post, she shared a humorous snap of a sleeping David, 50, captioning it: 'All that dancing has worn him out! (But how cute does he look sleeping!)'.
The Stark Social Media Divide
This display of domestic harmony stands in sharp contrast to the ongoing and very public family rift centred on their son Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz. The division has led the couple to snub all significant Beckham family celebrations in recent months.
Analysis of social media data reveals a notable split in public sentiment. While David and Victoria's already massive Instagram followings have surged—gaining an average of 2,633 new followers a day—Brooklyn's has suffered.
The influencer, who makes an income from cooking tutorials and his Cloud 23 hot sauce brand, has been losing an average of 188 followers a day over the past month, despite still commanding 16 million followers.
A source for Ace.com, which collates the figures, told The Sun: 'Follower trends show where audience attention and engagement sit. The data points to a notable divergence in public sentiment.'
A Deepening Family Estrangement
The acrimonious divide reached a new low last summer when, as revealed by the Daily Mail, Brooklyn asked his parents to communicate with him only through their lawyers. A source stated: 'David was told to speak to them via Schillings. That was the only way for them to communicate.'
This request extended to a desire for no direct contact or public statements about him on social media. Consequently, David, Victoria, and brothers Romeo and Cruz were notably absent from the guest list for Brooklyn and Nicola's 'second' wedding ceremony in New York. Harper, grandparents, and other extended family were also missing.
An insider told The Mirror: 'Victoria's heart is breaking behind closed doors. Brooklyn is her firstborn and she's worried she's never going to get him back.' The source added that Victoria fears the longer the situation continues, the less chance there is of reconciliation.
Despite the standoff with his parents, Brooklyn is understood to remain in regular contact with both sets of grandparents. A Sun insider said: 'Brooklyn absolutely adores them, and knows how much pain this is causing everyone. So he has reached out in his own time, but tried to keep it low-key.'
