Beyonce Praised for Polite Met Gala Exchange with Staff

Beyonce has been praised by fans after her 'polite' red carpet exchange with staff and her sweet words about her daughter Blue Ivy at the Met Gala on Monday. The singer's appearance came in stark contrast to Blake Lively's, after the actress was caught 'snapping' at members of her team during the evening.

The 38-year-old – who had settled her legal battle with Justin Baldoni just hours earlier – wore a dress with layers of fabric dragging behind her that required a team of assistants to carry and was seemingly bossing around the helpers. In a moment also caught on camera, Beyonce thanked her assistants multiple times while heaping praise on her 'baby' Blue, 14, who was making her Met debut.

After having her picture taken, a lip reader who deciphered the interaction said that Beyonce said to the photographers: 'Alright thank you guys.' She then asked one of her red carpet helpers: 'Does it look alright? Thank you. You have to fix her dress, so we can get closer together. Thank you.'

She then said to Blue: 'You look beautiful baby. Thank you', before beckoning her rapper Jay-Z to come and join them for the photograph. When asked how she felt about Blue attending the gala, she said: 'I'm happy my baby's here. It feels so good. Proud, because of my baby.'

Sharing their thoughts under the lip reader's video, fans praised Beyonce and said: 'Oh this is good. But she's so polite and sweet with her staff'; 'Because of my baby, my baby's here'; 'A doting mama is such a flex'; 'Ah she's so cute, what a mama bear'; 'I love how she's just a mom! "Ma baby over there! Das ma baby!"'; 'Ohhh my gawd she was mothering'; 'It's all about her babies now. She's a proud mother. A human like us!'; 'Aww when a mother breathes life into her daughters'; 'I love how you lowered your register like Beyonce. And I love how Beyonce was ALL about Blue'.

At the age of 14, Blue stole the show with her Balenciaga gown and her defiant refusal to remove her sunglasses. Beyonce and Jay Z's eldest daughter posed solo and with her famous parents on The Metropolitan Museum of Art's famous carpet, teaming her bubble-hemmed white gown with a pair of shades. But the sunglasses proved to be a sticking point for the teenager's dad as video shows the moment Blue refused to remove her shades despite frantic instructions from assistants and her father.

The clip shows Blue posing with her mom before Beyonce's publicist Yvette Noel-Schure rushes over, gesturing for the teen to take off her shades. The family's long-time publicist is then seen asking Beyonce to tell her daughter, before stylist Ty Hunter and eventually Jay steps in. A defiant Blue though waves off the instructions and seems to suggest she will remove them only when she reaches the top of the stairs.

Having her own diva moment, Blake raised eyebrows on Monday's Met Gala red carpet after she appeared to snap at the helpers assisting in lugging around her dress's massive train. In video from the event, Blake could be seen stopping her ascent up the Met's steps to boss around the helpers lifting up her dress. One of the helpers happened to be her cousin William McAlpin, she shared with fans on her Insta Stories.

It appeared to be a rare off moment from the Hollywood icon who usually displays a sunny demeanor. One viewer at home hilariously highlighted the moment and joked, 'No one has ever looked more like they were about to CC HR on the red carpet…' than Blake in an Instagram clip of the livestream. They wrote over the clip: 'The dress said couture. The energy said "per my last email."' The Daily Mail reached out to Blake's representatives for comment.

Although several commenters joked about Blake's demeanor, others rose to her defense and said her 'bossiness' wasn't anything to blink at. 'It looks to me like she’s instructing the people who are hired to assist celebrities on the carpet how to help or not help with her dress,' one person wrote. 'Not mean or bossy just delegating like a boss.' After Blake told the attendants how to fix her train, she smiled at them and thanked them for taking care of her.

Blake was dressed in a show-stopping archival Atelier Versace gown from the brand’s Spring 2006 collection. Video of Blake climbing the steps shows her four helpers trying to unfurl her train as she begins to walk up. But as one of the men helping her starts to lift up the skirt, she suddenly turns over her shoulder and puts her hand out toward the skirt. She seems to instruct him to pull the skirt away from her and to let it drag on the floor, as he steps back and places the fabric back down after the tense encounter.

As she continues walking, a single helper remains at her side while the other three fall back. However, as he fidgets with her dress and tries to give her an arm to hold on to for balance, Blake turns back to him and seems to wave him away, at which point he departs as well to leave her to pose for photographers by herself. Her return to the red carpet came just hours after she settled her legal battle with her former It Ends With Us costar and director Justin Baldoni - in an agreement in which no money changed hands, the Daily Mail has learned.
