Brooklyn Beckham's Bizarre Wedding Request Before Firing Planners Revealed
It has been four years since Brooklyn Beckham married Nicola Peltz in a lavish ceremony, yet their wedding remains a topic of intense discussion for all the wrong reasons. The couple's nuptials, held at the Peltz family's sprawling oceanfront estate in Palm Beach, Florida, were marked by behind-the-scenes drama that included multiple planner changes and legal disputes.
Chaotic Planning and Unusual Requests
The wedding planning process was fraught with challenges from the outset. Six weeks before the event, celebrity planner Preston Bailey stepped down, citing being "overcommitted." He was quickly replaced by planning duo Nicole Brahin and Arianna Grijalba from Plan Design Events, who inherited what they later described as a 'crime scene.'
According to reports, the previous planners had created a wedding website that allowed guests to RSVP for unlimited people, sent out incomplete and outdated invitations, and left numerous vendors unbooked. Brahin and Grijalba were inundated with extravagant new requests, including a water dance floor, flowers suspended in ice, and a baby-pink colour palette for the after-party.
Brooklyn Beckham himself made some peculiar contributions. The aspiring chef requested a 'Brooklyn burger' and a 'Nicola burger' from a Wendy's burger truck, with the latter using lettuce instead of a bun. More bizarrely, he reportedly asked if they should consider getting a "gun that shoots a net because there's probably gonna be drones," highlighting concerns about privacy and security at the high-profile event.
Legal Battles and Planner Firings
The partnership with Brahin and Grijalba was short-lived, as they were fired just nine days before the wedding. In December 2022, Nicola's father, billionaire Nelson Peltz, filed a lawsuit against Plan Design Events, alleging he had not received his $159,000 deposit back. His lawyers claimed the planners lacked the expertise to handle such a complex celebrity wedding and had misrepresented their capabilities.
In response, Brahin and Grijalba filed a countersuit in February 2023, citing breach of contract and requesting $50,000 in damages plus legal costs. They argued that while they were experienced event organisers, the Peltz family were challenging to work with. The countersuit revealed that Claudia and Nicola Peltz had insisted that Victoria Beckham, Brooklyn's mother, not be informed of any planning mistakes, and that Nelson Peltz was kept in the dark about the cost of Nicola's hair and makeup services, which exceeded $100,000.
Settlement and Final Outcome
The drama escalated in March 2023 when Nicola and Claudia Peltz filed a motion to be removed from further legal proceedings, calling the allegations "malicious and mean-spirited." However, the dispute was eventually resolved in September 2023 with a joint settlement. As part of the agreement, Plan Design Events made a donation in the name of Nicola and Brooklyn to the CARE Ukraine Crisis Fund.
Ultimately, the family hired a third wedding planner, Michelle Rago of Michelle Rago Destinations, to help pull the event together. Despite the chaos, the wedding proceeded as planned on 9 April 2022, but the lingering legal battles and unusual requests have cemented its place as one of the most tumultuous celebrity weddings in recent memory.
