Hollywood actor Dermot Mulroney has officially settled his divorce from singer-songwriter Prima Apollinaare, bringing their marriage of almost 15 years to a close. The 62-year-old star filed a declaration in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday, 16 January, confirming that all terms of their separation have been agreed.
Terms of the Settlement
According to court documents obtained by the Daily Mail, the former couple have successfully negotiated a comprehensive agreement. The settlement covers the division of shared property, child custody, and financial support for their two daughters, Mabel Ray, 17, and Sally June, 15. Terms regarding spousal support, visitation rights, and attorney fees were also part of the negotiated deal. The pair are now awaiting a judge's final sign-off to make the settlement legally binding.
Mulroney, famed for his role as Julia Roberts's love interest in My Best Friend's Wedding, initially filed for divorce on 21 June 2025, citing irreconcilable differences. In his original filing, he requested joint legal custody of both daughters. The actor also has a 26-year-old son, Clyde Keener Mulroney, from his previous marriage to actress Catherine Keener.
An Amicable Split
Despite early reports from outlets like TMZ suggesting disputes over spousal support, a source close to the couple told People magazine that the process has been harmonious. "No one is asking for anything, and no one is denying anything. They are not arguing over the children nor money," the insider stated, clarifying that the exes used mediators rather than lawyers to reach their agreement amicably.
The couple, who began dating in 2008, bonded over a shared passion for music. Mulroney is a classically trained cellist who has contributed to major film scores, while Apollinaare, born Tharita Cutulle in Italy, is an established singer-songwriter. As recently as February 2024, they showed no public signs of strain, performing a duet on the television show We Are Family.
Moving Forward
With the settlement reached, both parties can now move forward independently. Mulroney, who most recently appeared in Anyone But You, continues his acting career. The former couple had listed the same Los Angeles home address at the time of the filing, indicating they were either cohabiting post-split or sharing a mailing address for practical purposes during the proceedings.
