Jennifer Garner Reveals Ben Affleck's Beyoncé 'Halo' Obsession During 'The Town' Shoot
Garner on Affleck's Beyoncé 'Halo' obsession

Actress Jennifer Garner has humorously revealed a defining habit of her ex-husband, Ben Affleck, confirming his status as a devoted member of Beyoncé's superfan army, the Bey-Hive.

A Relentless Soundtrack to Family Life

The 53-year-old star got candid during an appearance at a Los Angeles bookstore on Thursday with author Laura Dave. Noting Dave's preference for working to music, Garner said she recognised the habit all too well from her famous former partner.

'Do you guys do this? Do you listen to a song over and over again? I just want to tell you something. I've survived this. I have lived through it,' Garner joked to the audience. She then shared the specific memory. 'Ben Affleck listens to a song over and over. I had a three-month-old and a three-year-old living in a rental in Cambridge, Massachusetts while he was shooting The Town. And he listened to Beyoncé's 'Halo,' and I would be nursing.'

Affleck's Creative Process and Co-Parenting Harmony

Affleck, who was directing his second film The Town in 2010, has previously admitted to this repetitive listening technique. In a 2016 interview, he explained that finding a few inspiring songs and putting them on a loop was 'hypnotic' and helped him concentrate and capture the feeling of a scene.

Garner and Affleck were married from 2005 until 2015 and share three children: Violet, 20, Seraphina, 17, and Samuel, 13. The anecdote emerges amidst reports of a harmonious relationship between Garner and Affleck's other ex, Jennifer Lopez, whom he split from in 2025 after three years of marriage.

A source stated there is 'no drama' between the two women, explaining they get along well and prioritise the children's friendships. Lopez has twins with ex-husband Marc Anthony, while Garner's children are with Affleck.

Damon and Affleck's Enduring Banter

Meanwhile, Affleck's long-standing friendship with Matt Damon provided more light-hearted entertainment this week. The pair, who first collaborated on 1997's Good Will Hunting, brought their trademark humour to The Today Show.

Affleck teased Damon about not being 'great at cleaning up around the house,' while Damon shot back about Affleck's legendary tardiness, joking that his co-star arriving three minutes early was a first in 45 years. Damon also shared an amusing story about his wife, Luciana, initially finding Affleck the 'cute one' from their breakout film.

The candid bookstore revelation offers a playful glimpse into the past home life of one of Hollywood's most talked-about former couples, centred on a global pop anthem that became an unlikely and relentless part of their family history.
