Isla Fisher Rebuilds 'Sense of Self' After 'Challenging' Split from Sacha Baron Cohen
Isla Fisher on 'challenging' divorce from Sacha Baron Cohen

Australian actress Isla Fisher has been spotted enjoying a casual dog walk with her mother in London, following what she describes as a 'really challenging' period after her divorce from comedian Sacha Baron Cohen.

A New Chapter in London

The 49-year-old 'Now You See Me' star was seen braving the chilly London weather in the upmarket area of Hampstead, where she resides. Dressed for comfort and warmth, her outfit consisted of a practical black padded jacket from The North Face, paired with grey Adanola Active sweatpants and classic black Hunter wellington boots. Her signature ginger hair was tied in a messy bun, and she accessorised with a pair of black sunglasses during the Friday stroll with her mother, Elspeth Reid.

Reflecting on a 'Different Grief'

This public appearance comes after Fisher gave a candid interview in November, where she detailed the emotional fallout from the end of her 14-year marriage. The couple mutually announced their separation at the end of 2023, with the divorce being finalised in June 2024. Fisher, who shares three children with Baron Cohen, explained that the past two years have been focused on work and personal healing.

Speaking to NewBeauty, she said, 'It has been a really challenging time. I definitely feel like there's something about the divorce club that anyone in it understands in a way other people don't. It's a different grief.'

Finding Positives and Rebuilding

However, the actress is now embracing a more positive outlook on her new life as a single woman. She described the process of creating a new post-divorce identity as 'so fun', allowing her to reconnect with old passions and supportive friendships that may have taken a backseat during her marriage.

'I feel like creating a new identity after your divorce is so fun, though,' Fisher added. 'You get to reflect on your values and goals, explore new interests, focus on what you want and rebuild your sense of self.' She emphasised the importance of self-kindness and giving herself grace during this transitional phase.

In a stark contrast to Fisher's period of reflection, Sacha Baron Cohen, 54, appears to have moved on more publicly. Reports emerged just three months after the divorce was finalised that he was seeing 27-year-old model Hannah Palmer. More recently, he was photographed with 26-year-old social media personality Kelsey Calemine.

For now, Fisher has made it clear that dating is not on her agenda. She told The Sunday Times last year that she is 'not ready to think about any of that,' drawing inspiration from her own parents' amicable separation when she was a child.
