Reality TV star and former glamour model Katie Price has revealed she experienced an unusually peaceful festive season this year, surrounded by her family and her mother, Amy Price, who continues to fight a long-term health condition.
A Rare Moment of Calm for the Price Family
In a festive vlog shared with her followers, the 47-year-old celebrity documented a relaxed gathering at her mother's home on the Isle of Wight. Price, known for sharing her often chaotic family life online, expressed surprise at the tranquillity. "Considering how many people are here, it's quite calm, isn't it?" she remarked, noting her children were upstairs. She added that she felt so relaxed she could fall asleep, a stark contrast to the usual pre-Christmas frenzy.
Her mother, Amy, agreed, suggesting the children had worn themselves out. The family moment was soundtracked by the 1980s classic 'Solid' by Ashford & Simpson, a song Katie said she loved from her youth.
A Gift of Freedom and an Ongoing Health Battle
The emotional core of the Christmas update centred on Amy's health. Amy Price was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in 2017 and underwent a lung transplant in November 2022. However, the condition remains unpredictable.
In a touching gesture, Katie presented her mother with a mobility scooter as a Christmas gift, bringing Amy to tears of joy. Katie explained the gift was about granting "a new lease of life, freedom," enabling her mum to visit the beach or shops near her Isle of Wight home without worrying about parking or exertion.
Fans flooded the comments section of the vlog, with many relating to the profound impact such a gift can have. One wrote that a scooter "opened up my world," while another praised Katie as a "caring and generous" daughter.
Looking Ahead to a 'New Start' in 2026
Katie proclaimed that the coming year would represent a "new start" for her mum. Amy herself has spoken about the frustrations of living with IPF, telling Katie on her podcast, The Katie Price Show, that her mind remains active but her body cannot keep up. She also expressed a hopeful goal to attend the Isle of Wight Festival and aims to walk more to aid her recovery.
The star's concern for lung health is personal. Earlier this year, Katie, a former vaper, underwent lung scans to check for potential issues, fearing a genetic link to her mother's condition or damage from vaping. She later shared the positive news that her lungs were "absolutely perfect" and revealed she was weaning herself off vapes on medical advice.
This festive period offered a poignant snapshot of the Price family's resilience, highlighting tender moments of care amidst the ongoing challenges of chronic illness.
