Lindsay Lohan Reflects on Childhood Stardom and Lack of Protection

In a candid new interview, actress Lindsay Lohan has openly questioned why she was not better protected from the intense pressures of Hollywood fame during her formative teenage years. Speaking to Vogue Arabia, the star of Mean Girls and The Parent Trap expressed lingering bewilderment over the lack of intervention during her early career.

'Why Didn't Anyone Take Me Out of There?'

Lohan, now 39 years old, posed a poignant rhetorical question about her past: "Why didn't anyone just go and take me out of there, protect me more?" She elaborated that as a teenager navigating the spotlight, she lacked the tools to shield herself, stating, "You don't know how to do that yourself when you're a teenager."

The actress first captured public attention at just 12 years old with her dual role in the 1998 Disney film The Parent Trap. She subsequently starred in numerous high-profile projects throughout her teens, including Freaky Friday and the iconic Mean Girls.

A Grounding Life in Dubai with Family

Lohan, who relocated to Dubai in 2014, has found stability and privacy away from the Hollywood glare. In the city, she met her husband, Kuwaiti financier Bader Shammas. The couple welcomed their son, Luai, in July 2023.

Describing her marital dynamic, Lohan told the magazine, "We're so good together because he's so calm and I'm like a firecracker. We have a great balance." She emphasized how life in Dubai provides a grounding influence, allowing her to focus on family. "Being in Dubai is very grounding. I get to just spend time with my family. The city gives me a sense of being with what's most important," she explained.

Embracing Privacy and Professional Confidence

The actress highlighted the significant relief that comes with her current level of privacy. "That's a big breath of fresh air, having to not overthink everything you do every second," she remarked. This newfound peace contrasts sharply with the constant scrutiny of her youth.

Professionally, Lohan is experiencing a resurgence. She appears on the cover of Vogue Arabia's March issue and is set to star in the upcoming TV series Count My Lies. She spoke of gaining a "different kind of confidence" with age, noting, "When I was younger, I wasn't so comfortable saying how I felt about a character and being involved with the process of it. And I love that part now."
