Mariah Carey's Relatable Parenting Moment During Son's Twitch Stream
Mariah Carey, the global music icon with an estimated net worth of $350 million, demonstrated that at home with her children, she is simply "mom" – and sometimes an embarrassing one at that. The 56-year-old singer, famous for hits like "We Belong Together," acted like any typical parent when she walked into her 14-year-old son's room during his Twitch livestream on Friday.
A Surprise Appearance on Moroccan's Livestream
Moroccan Cannon, affectionately known as Rocky, was broadcasting to friends and fans when his mother entered. He welcomed Carey into his screen space and encouraged her to greet his viewers. "My mom’s here, do you want to say hi?" Rocky asked, to which Carey responded from across the dimly lit room, "Of course I want to say hi."
Rocky expressed hesitation, saying, "Wait, wait, wait, wait, are you sure? I’m on stream in front of all these people." Carey, stepping into camera range wearing what appeared to be a bathrobe with her hair in perfect waves, replied, "Should I be concerned?"
An Affectionate Interruption
Leaning over Rocky’s shoulder, Carey declared, "Listen, I want them to know I love them." Rocky, perhaps a bit flustered, told her, "All right, that’s very sweet mom," before adding that he needed to "get back to streaming. I love you, Mama. Have a good night."
Viewers reacted with excitement, with messages flooding in faster than Rocky could read them. One fan wrote, "Hi, ms carey," while another gushed, "Omg, I love you."
Not the First Time
This was not Carey's first intrusion into Rocky's livestream. In April 2025, she similarly walked into his session, but Rocky's reaction was more dramatic. After initially inviting her in, he became flustered when his twin sister Monroe started wandering around his room.
Rocky, seemingly embarrassed or distracted, urged, "Y’all need to get out now, everybody get out," waving them away. Carey persisted, telling Rocky’s friends, "Hi guys, I love you." When neither Carey nor Monroe – nicknamed Roe by her mother – left, Rocky insisted more emphatically, "Get out of my room!"
Family Background and Upcoming Projects
Rocky and Monroe are Carey's children with ex-husband Nick Cannon, who has ten other children with five different women. Carey's latest appearance on her son's stream coincides with her announcement of plans to celebrate the 25-year anniversary of her 2001 film Glitter and its accompanying album.
Speaking to Variety, Carey revealed, "Plans for a deluxe and a reissue, or maybe just one, I don’t know. We’re getting on top of it. I’m excited about it." She admitted that she once loathed Glitter "because it was a disastrous flop," saying, "I used to hate it. I used to be so like, why did I do that? And then, you know, it became something that I really loved and it just sort of took on its own thing. It was just a tough time for me."
Glitter's Resurgence and Fan Campaign
Over the years, Glitter has cultivated a devoted fanbase who appreciate the album's music despite the film's poor reception. Fans view it as an underrated part of Carey's catalog and launched the #JusticeForGlitter campaign in 2018, which propelled the album to number one on iTunes.
Carey, who recently faced mockery for using a teleprompter to phonetically spell out Italian lyrics during her Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony performance, suggested that remastering old music videos, such as "Don't Stop (Funkin’ 4 Jamaica)," could be part of the anniversary celebration.
This endearing moment highlights how even a superstar like Mariah Carey embraces the everyday role of parenting, complete with its awkward and heartfelt interruptions.
