Maya Jama Sets Record Straight on Smile Transformation After Trolls Target Her Teeth
Maya Jama hits back at trolls over her smile makeover

Love Island presenter Maya Jama has directly addressed social media critics who targeted her appearance following the launch of the highly anticipated All Stars series.

Online Backlash Over Her Smile

The 31-year-old host returned to ITV2 screens on Wednesday, 15th January 2026, to welcome a dozen former Islanders back to the villa. However, viewers quickly took to X, formerly Twitter, to comment on her smile, with some suggesting she had undergone a dramatic dental makeover.

One user questioned, "Ahhh Maya what have you done with your teeth?" while another remarked, "Maya got Turkey teeth - I loveeeeeeed her old teeth so much." The term 'Turkey teeth' is commonly used to describe dental veneers that appear overly white and uniform.

Jama's Swift and Clear Response

Maya Jama did not hesitate to set the record straight. Responding directly to the negative comments, she clarified the nature of her dental treatment. "Girl I have not got Turkey teeth l've got braces (behind my teeth on the top and outside on the bottom)," she wrote.

She added, "I wasn't mad at my lil crook but can never please em all, last season I was getting messages about them being bent." This highlights the persistent scrutiny she faces regarding her appearance.

The Truth Behind the Transformation

Details of Jama's smile journey were not a secret. In fact, her dentists, Dr Annika Patel and Dr Rhona Eskander of Chelsea Dental Clinic, revealed back in October 2025 that she was undergoing treatment.

They posted on Instagram that the television personality had opted for lingual braces, a discreet method that straightens teeth from behind. "This advanced technique allows you to achieve beautiful alignment discreetly while maintaining your natural smile throughout treatment," the dentists explained.

The clinic thanked Maya for trusting them with her smile journey, a post that was met with supportive comments from followers praising the results.

The launch of Love Island: All Stars itself followed delays caused by frightening wildfires. In an unprecedented move for the franchise, ITV2 scheduled an additional full-length episode for Saturday, 17th January at 9pm to compensate for the postponed launch. The series continues nightly on ITV2 and ITVX.
