Australian actress Pia Whitesell has spoken candidly about the profound rewards of her role as a stepmother within a uniquely high-profile blended family.

The Home and Away star, 42, is married to Hollywood power agent Patrick Whitesell, who shares two children – son Evan, 19, and daughter Ella, 17 – with his ex-partner, former TV presenter Lauren Sanchez. "We lost a house, we'd taken it down to the studs and I'd redone the whole thing," Pia admitted. Recalling the terrifying event, she said, "It was shocking – we were glued to the TV in our main house, watching the fire move down the coast in real time. It broke our hearts."
She expressed gratitude for being surrounded by Patrick, friends, and family during the ordeal. While the property and all its contents were destroyed, the family counted their blessings that their primary residence was spared. "We were blessed compared to those who lost childhood homes," she reflected, describing the loss of a stretch of historic 1960s coastal homes as "surreal."

Pia's reflections come five years after she relocated from Australia to Los Angeles with her sons and married Patrick Whitesell, the CEO of the formidable talent agency Endeavor. The couple got engaged in late 2020 after Patrick presented her with a spectacular oval solitaire diamond ring, valued between AUD$1.1 million and AUD$1.9 million. They officially tied the knot in May 2021.
