Robert Irwin reveals he's single and open to love in candid radio interview
Robert Irwin confirms he's single in radio interview

Wildlife conservationist and television personality Robert Irwin found himself on the spot during a live radio interview this week, when hosts directly questioned him about his relationship status.

A Surprising Line of Questioning

Appearing on KIIS 97.3's Robin, Kip & Corey show on Monday, the 22-year-old was there primarily to discuss the new season of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, which premiered on Sunday night. However, the conversation took a personal turn when host Robin Bailey posed a blunt question on behalf of listeners.

"On behalf of every single woman under the age of 30. Are you single?" Bailey asked. A slightly stunned Irwin laughed and replied, "Oh, we're going straight in for the exclusive! Yes, yes."

"Watch This Space": Irwin on Future Romance

Irwin didn't shy away from the topic, revealing an optimistic outlook about his romantic future. "Oh, definitely. It's one of these things where I'm like, at this point in my life, you've got to let it happen," he explained, citing his hectic schedule. "Because I'm so here and there and everywhere at 100 miles an hour. I'm open to it... Watch this space. There's not much to report at the moment."

This confirmation follows months of speculation linking Irwin to American stars, including 19-year-old professional dancer Hailey Bills and 19-year-old actress Xochitl Gomez. Irwin and Gomez sparked rumours of chemistry when they performed a jive together for the 20th anniversary of US Dancing With the Stars last year, where Gomez was a special guest.

A Busy Year for the Wildlife Warrior

The interview comes during a significant period for Irwin. He is currently riding a wave of Hollywood fame, bolstered by his headline-making victory on the US version of Dancing With the Stars in 2023. Alongside his television work, he continues his vital conservation role at Australia Zoo, the Queensland-based park founded by his family, honouring the legacy of his late father, Steve Irwin.

Reports suggest Irwin, who split from long-term girlfriend Rorie Buckey in February 2024, is in no rush to settle down. According to New Idea magazine, he is currently focused on "playing the field" rather than searching for "the one."

In a lighter note, the radio appearance coincided with a Queensland man, Ben Marshall, a married father from Caloundra, winning $500 for being crowned Australia's best Robert Irwin lookalike, highlighting the young star's remarkable public profile.
