Hollywood and Politics Unite at Starry Night Gala for Breast Cancer Research
Starry Night Gala Raises Funds for Breast Cancer Research

The Chaparral Country Club in Palm Desert, California, served as the magnificent backdrop for a night where Hollywood glamour met political influence, all united by a vital cause. The third annual Starry Starry Night Gala for Breast Cancer Awareness drew a glittering crowd last week, with actress Cheryl Hines, model Blac Chyna, and country music star Alexis Wilkins among the notable attendees.

A Gathering of Influence for a Critical Cause

Adding significant weight to the occasion was the presence of Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy, who is married to special host Cheryl Hines. The exclusive, invitation-only evening was orchestrated by producers Daphne Barak and Erbil Gunasti through their company, Game Changer Event, LLC. Their motivation was deeply personal, stemming from their own harrowing health battles.

Personal Journeys Fueling Philanthropy

Daphne Barak successfully underwent breast cancer surgery and a demanding year-long chemotherapy regimen in 2024. Simultaneously, Erbil Gunasti required a life-saving emergency operation. These profound personal ordeals inspired them to create an event dedicated to raising both awareness and crucial financial support for groundbreaking research at the Moores Cancer Center, part of UC San Diego Health.

The celebration on January 31st was expertly hosted by Patrick Evans and Eric B, with Cheryl Hines taking on the role of special host. The evening was filled with poignant moments and entertainment, including a stirring live performance by Alexis Wilkins that brought the ballroom to its feet.

Honouring Courage and Service

The gala also featured appearances by Blac Chyna and actor David A.R. White, who assisted in presenting the prestigious Angel of Life Awards. These honours were bestowed upon Michelle Milo and Dr. Soudabeh Fazeli, recognizing their extraordinary contributions to cancer care and steadfast patient advocacy.

Through its continued partnership with the physicians and staff of UC San Diego Health, the Starry Starry Night Gala has rapidly established itself as one of the premier charitable events in the desert region, celebrated for its impact and elegance.

A Surprise Announcement for Future Fundraising

Guests were treated to a thrilling surprise announcement that promises to extend the event's philanthropic reach. Daphne and Erbil's foundation revealed a new collaboration with major golf sponsor DP World to launch a significant professional tournament. This new event is scheduled for April at the historic Indian Wells Golf Club, a venue once frequented by President Gerald Ford and comedian Bob Hope.

The tournament winners will be rewarded with highly coveted VIP seats at the US Masters, with all proceeds directed to benefit ongoing cancer research initiatives in partnership with UC San Diego Health. This innovative partnership marks an exciting expansion of the fundraising efforts ignited by the gala.
