The long-simmering feud between two rock music dynasties has erupted into a public and deeply personal war of words. Roger Waters, the 82-year-old co-founder of Pink Floyd, has defiantly stood by his harsh criticism of the late Ozzy Osbourne and launched a fresh attack on Ozzy's widow, Sharon, labelling her a 'raging Zionist'.
The Original Comments and Backlash
The controversy began last year when Waters, in an interview, stated he was not a fan of Black Sabbath and claimed Ozzy had been in a 'state' for most of his life. Following Ozzy's death in July at the age of 76, these remarks resurfaced, drawing fierce condemnation from the Osbourne family.
Sharon Osbourne led the charge, calling Waters 'nuts' and suggesting he was 'not wired right'. She referenced his multiple marriages and criticised what she described as his 'pathetic, homemade Nazi outfit' from a Berlin gig in May 2023. Ozzy's son, Jack Osbourne, took to Instagram, branding Waters a 'c**t' to his 1.3 million followers.
Waters Refuses to Back Down on Piers Morgan
Confronted by Piers Morgan on his 'Uncensored' show, Waters was unrepentant. When Morgan attempted to question him about the timing of his comments so soon after Ozzy's passing, Waters interjected with 'Oh shut up!' and referred to Sharon Osbourne as 'Karen'.
Pressed on whether he would apologise for the hurt caused, Waters replied, 'Of course I will, not that I have any time for Sharon, she is a raging Zionist… She's accused me of all kinds of things because she is part of the Israeli lobby.' He reiterated his distaste for Black Sabbath's music and Ozzy's infamous bat-biting antics, stating, 'I don't like people who bite the heads off bats. I just don't I think it's disgusting.'
A Bitter Legacy and Ongoing Conflict
The animosity is compounded by separate allegations of antisemitism against Waters, which he has consistently denied. Sharon Osbourne had previously referenced an incident where Waters allegedly sang that his agent was a 'f***ing Jew' and his controversial Berlin performance.
Waters extended a half-hearted olive branch only to Ozzy's son, Jack, saying, 'Jack, if he wants to have a chat, I'll have a chat… I'm sorry you lost your dad, Jack.' However, his continued vitriol towards Sharon Osbourne and refusal to retract his core statements ensures this bitter rock feud shows no sign of abating.
