Olivia Dean's Grammy Night Triumph

On Sunday night, British singer Olivia Dean captivated audiences at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, not only by winning the prestigious Best New Artist award but also through her impeccable style choices that perfectly blended red-carpet glamour with her signature London cool-girl aesthetic.

Red Carpet Elegance Meets London Cool

Dean made a striking entrance on the red carpet wearing an exquisite embroidered black-and-white Chanel gown that immediately turned heads. Later, for her performance of Man I Need, she transformed into a vision of shimmering sophistication in a red sequin Chanel minidress. The seamless transition between these two looks demonstrated her ability to embody both Hollywood elegance and effortless London style.

The Complete Beauty Breakdown

Every aspect of Dean's appearance was carefully orchestrated by top beauty professionals to achieve that perfect balance of polished sophistication and natural ease. From luminous skin created entirely with Hourglass products to soft, voluminous waves styled using Olaplex and Tangle Teezer tools, the details came together to create a cohesive, memorable look.

The Glow-First Makeup Approach

Celebrity makeup artist Celia Burton explains the philosophy behind Dean's radiant complexion: 'The inspiration for Olivia is never very far away – it's always about letting her feel like herself. She naturally has this Diana Ross–esque energy: disco, freedom, glamour and beauty. The look was about honouring Hollywood elegance while keeping it grounded in that effortless London 'cool girl' spirit.'

Creating the Luminous Base

The foundation of Dean's look began with meticulous skin preparation. 'We started by really prepping her skin,' Burton reveals. 'The goal from the beginning was a radiant glow – nothing too heavy or overdone. It was all about letting the skin breathe and shine naturally.'

After achieving what Burton describes as 'super dewy' skin, she applied the Illusion Luminous Glow Foundation in shade 18, followed by the Vanish Airbrush Concealer in shades Sienna and Maple to brighten and subtly sculpt the face. Everything was set with the Veil Translucent Setting Powder in Medium, with a light baking moment using the Vanish Airbrush Pressed Powder in Translucent Tan to lock everything in place while maintaining that fresh, radiant finish.

Eyes, Brows and Cheeks

For the eyes, Burton created soft drama using the Curator Eyeshadow Palette in Minimalist, focusing on matte tones to build structure without heaviness. A dramatic wing was achieved with the 1.5MM Mechanical Gel Eye Liner in Obsidian, sharpened with Voyeur Waterproof Liquid Liner. Multiple coats of the Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara completed the eye look, with leftover eyeshadow softly dragged underneath to add a subtle smoky effect.

Dean's brows were lightly filled with the Arch Brow Micro Sculpting Pencil in Medium Brown and set with the Arch Brow Shaping Gel in Clear. Her cheeks came to life with Unreal Liquid Blush in Future, while the Ambient Lighting Palette in Volume III added golden warmth – a combination Burton describes as 'our absolute favourite palette on Olivia – it just works every time.'

The Finishing Touches

Burton contoured and shaped Dean's lips using the Shape & Sculpt Lip Liner in Candid, then filled the centre with Unlocked Satin Crème Lipstick in Larch, pressed together for soft, wearable drama. The entire look was sealed with Veil Soft Focus Setting Spray, a finishing touch that blends everything seamlessly while ensuring longevity throughout the evening.

Soft, Voluminous Hair Creation

Celebrity hairstylist Rachel Polycarpe complemented Dean's radiant makeup with hair that balanced bold volume with effortless movement. 'The vision was a modern homage to high-glam eras where hair felt unapologetically full,' Polycarpe explains. 'We wanted big volume and soft curls that moved naturally, striking a balance between texture and romantic softness.'

The Hair Preparation Process

The styling process began with Olaplex Bond Maintenance Shampoo and Conditioner to restore hair bonds and create a smooth foundation. Polycarpe then used the Ultimate Detangler for naturally curly hair to evenly distribute the Olaplex Nº.5 Leave-In Conditioner, followed by the Nº.9 Bond Protector Nourishing Hair Serum to minimise breakage before heat styling.

After blow-drying Dean's hair for smooth movement, Nº.7 Bonding Oil was applied to add shine and reinforce the strands. Soft curls were created with a curling iron, then once completely curled, Polycarpe brushed the hair out using the Ultimate Styler to shape and soften the waves.

Volume and Texture Enhancement

The Olaplex 4D Dry Shampoo provided essential root lift and extra texture, while a light mist of hairspray and shine spray locked everything in place. The final result was hair that felt polished yet effortless – a red-carpet-ready style with that distinctive London 'cool girl' twist that perfectly complemented Dean's overall aesthetic.
