Take That's Jason Orange Reveals Heartbreaking Confession in New Netflix Documentary
Jason Orange's Heartbreaking Confession in Netflix Doc

Fans of the iconic British band Take That are set for an emotional journey with the release of a revealing new three-part documentary series on Netflix. Simply titled Take That, the series promises an unprecedented look behind the curtain at one of the world's most successful boy bands, featuring never-before-seen footage and intimate recordings.

The Pain Behind the Pop Stardom

The documentary brings together original members Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Mark Owen, Jason Orange, and Robbie Williams as they candidly discuss the immense pressures and personal costs of global fame. A particularly poignant moment centres on Jason Orange, who opens up about his early, painful experiences within the group.

In a heartfelt voiceover, Orange confesses to a struggle that fans never saw. "When I was in Take That the first time around, I was the dancer of the band and I accepted it at the time," he admits. "I was told not to bother singing, ever. I suppose I couldn't tell people how I really feel and I can't even tell you what I went through to get there. So this time, singing, it's such a pleasure for me to do it."

A Career of Highs and Departures

The series charts the band's formation in the early 1990s, their meteoric rise, and their devastating first split in February 1996. After the breakup, Orange briefly pursued acting, starring in the crime drama Killer Net, but soon left the profession. He triumphantly returned for the band's reunion in 2005 and performed on their celebrated The Circus tour in 2009.

His bandmates are shown in the documentary expressing immense pride in his vocal abilities later in their career. "Jay has the most beautiful voice, his tone and the way he sings is so beautiful. He never over-sings, he's a very gentle singer," they said.

A Quiet Farewell to the Stage

The documentary also covers Orange's ultimate departure from the spotlight. In 2014, he announced his official retirement from Take That and the music industry. In a gracious statement at the time, he expressed pride in the band's achievements since 1990 and clarified his decision was amicable.

"I have spent some of the best years of my life with Take That... At the end of The Progress Tour I began to question whether it might be the right time for me to not continue on," Orange explained. He confirmed there were "no fallings out" and offered his full support for the remaining members to continue.

The Take That documentary series begins streaming exclusively on Netflix on January 27, 2026, offering fans a raw and definitive account of the band's remarkable story.
