Corrie's Jack P Shepherd: 'Emmerdale's Stunts Are Better Than Ours'
Corrie star admits Emmerdale does stunts better

In a surprising and humorous admission, Coronation Street stalwart Jack P Shepherd has revealed he believes rival soap Emmerdale executes its dramatic stunts far more effectively. The actor, famed for his role as David Platt, made the cheeky confession ahead of the highly-anticipated Corriedale crossover special.

A Dream Come True for the Corrie Star

Shepherd, 37, expressed his long-held admiration for Emmerdale's action sequences, stating that getting to collaborate for the unique crossover episode was a dream realised. "All the years that we've watched Emmerdale's stunts, they've always gone down in history as being better than ours," he explained. "It was nice to finally work with them, so that they could show us exactly how to do it."

The special episode, airing soon, features a major multi-vehicle collision on a stormy road, bringing characters from both iconic ITV serials together in a life-threatening scenario. For Shepherd, this was a chance to finally participate in the kind of large-scale action he feels Emmerdale masters. "I did that little run towards all the flames," he teased, hinting at the episode's fiery drama.

Boss Pours Cold Water on Future Crossovers

Despite the excitement from the cast, fans hoping for more collaborative storylines may be left disappointed. Iain MacLeod, the executive producer who oversees both Coronation Street and Emmerdale, has firmly ruled out any future crossovers beyond this one-off event.

Speaking to The Mirror, MacLeod emphasised the distinct identities of the two shows. "People love Corrie and people love Emmerdale and their distinct entities," he said. "They have their own tone of voice and their own sense of humour... I think it's brilliant to bring them together for this, but no, there are no plans to do anything similar in the future."

Co-Star Defends the Ambitious Project

Shepherd's co-star in the crossover, Danny Miller (Aaron Dingle in Emmerdale), also shared an anecdote about public scepticism. He recounted being told by an HGV driver at an M62 service station that the concept simply "won't work."

Miller urged viewers to reserve judgement until they see the final product. "I just kind of joked and said, well I wouldn't tell you how to drive an HGV," he responded. Shepherd later confirmed the same sceptic had approached him with identical doubts.

The Corriedale episode promises to deliver high-octane drama, merging the worlds of Weatherfield and the Dales in an unprecedented television event. While it may remain a unique occurrence, it has clearly been a thrilling experience for the actors involved, particularly for Jack P Shepherd, who got to live out his stunt-centric fantasy.
