EastEnders' Jasmine's Cindy obsession 'explained' as Chrissie's secret family link 'revealed'
EastEnders: Jasmine's Cindy obsession linked to Chrissie's past

Sharp-eyed EastEnders viewers believe they have pieced together a crucial puzzle, explaining newcomer Jasmine Fisher's violent fixation on Cindy Beale and its potential connection to the returning villain Chrissie Watts.

The Stalking Plot Thickens

The dramatic Christmas Eve episode confirmed that Chrissie Watts, the iconic villain who killed Den Watts, has returned to Walford. She was revealed to be the mastermind working alongside Jasmine, who was earlier this month exposed as the long-lost daughter of Zoe Slater. Their goal has been to systematically stalk and terrorise Zoe.

However, a major question has lingered for fans. Before Jasmine's true identity as Zoe's daughter was unveiled, her obsession seemed entirely directed at another resident: Cindy Beale. This fascination culminated in a brutal physical attack where a suspicious Cindy, who had confronted Jasmine about her past, was pushed down a flight of stairs and hospitalised.

A Fan Theory Connects the Dots

Many had speculated that Jasmine would be revealed as a relative of Jackie Ford. This off-screen character shared a prison cell with Cindy years ago. Cindy's decision to inform on Jackie for another crime led to a much longer sentence for Ford, prompting her furious family to seek revenge and force Cindy into witness protection.

Cindy herself believed the Ford family was behind the attack, and fans now theorise she may have been right—even if Jasmine is a Slater by blood. Observant viewers noted the immediate closeness between Jasmine and Chrissie upon her return. This sparked a memory: Chrissie's maiden name, from before she married Den Watts, was never disclosed on the show.

This has led to a compelling fan theory that Chrissie Watts' unknown family name could be Ford. "I think I have the potential answer to this," one fan proposed online. "And it could be that Chrissie Watt’s former family name before she married Den Watts was Ford." This would directly link Jasmine's actions to Cindy's old enemy through a secret familial bond with Chrissie.

Chrissie's History of Scheming

The theory aligns perfectly with Chrissie's established character as a master manipulator. During her original stint on the soap in 2005, she expertly orchestrated a plot to destroy her husband Den's life, even convincing Zoe Slater and Sam Mitchell to assist her. Her most infamous act was making Zoe believe she had delivered the fatal blow to Den, when in fact Chrissie was the murderer.

Another fan expanded the idea, suggesting Chrissie could also be connected to Anthony Trueman: "Now, make their maiden name Ford, and make them Anthony's ex's long-lost sister. She can kill off Zoe, Cindy and Anthony, and then she can leave too."

The next chapters of this explosive storyline will unfold in two special episodes airing on Christmas Day, 25 December. Viewers can tune in at 7:45pm and again at 9:45pm to see how the dangerous alliance between Chrissie, Jasmine, and their target Zoe develops.
